    Threat by Sixers star reported
Police probe allegation gun-toting Iverson barged into apartment
By SCOTT FLANDER & MENSAH DEAN

Two men have filed a police report alleging that 76ers star Allen Iverson barged into a West Philadelphia apartment, armed with a gun, looking for his wife and cousin, according to sources.

Police are still trying to determine whether the alleged incident actually happened, and no charges have been filed,
    the sources said.

The men filing the report claimed the incident occurred about 2:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Cobbs Creek Court Apartments on Chestnut Street near 62nd.

They claimed that Iverson, with another man, came to the apartment looking for his cousin, who lived there, the sources said. They claimed Iverson was also looking for his wife, according to the sources.

Iverson and the man forced their way into the apartment, still demanding to know where Iverson's cousin and wife were, sources said. According to the police report, Iverson threatened the men in the apartment, the sources said.

Police were talking to witnesses in an effort to determine whether the allegations were true, the sources said.

Reached by telephone last night, Iverson's lawyer, Larry Woodward, said he had no comment.

A man who answered the telephone yesterday at the third-floor apartment where the incident allegedly occurred, and who later came outside, said he was one of the two men Iverson had threatened. He said he had filed the police report.

He wouldn't give his name, however, saying he feared retaliation from Iverson.

"When I find out a restraining order has been placed on Iverson, I will talk to anybody I please. But not until then," he said. "My life is in danger; my life has been threatened."

Another man, who said he is the building's superintendent, said he doubted the story.

"There was no way Iverson could have done that, plain and simple," said the superintendent, who wouldn't give his name. "He has no way to get into this building."

The superintendent said a code is needed to enter the front door.

"There's no way an All-Star could get in here unnoticed," he said. "He drives a Bentley. People would take notice of that."

Iverson has had trouble in the past.

In 1997, he was a passenger in a car that was stopped for speeding by a state trooper near Richmond, Va. After the trooper smelled mar1juana, he searched the car and found a .45-caliber pistol on the floorboard.

Iverson pleaded no contest to a concealed-weapons charge, and a mar1juana-possession charge was dropped. Iverson was placed on three years' probation and was suspended by the NBA for one game.

Iverson served four months on a prison farm for a brawl in a Hampton, Va., bowling alley in February 1993. He was convicted of three counts of maiming by mob, but was eventually granted clemency. Iverson's conviction was overturned on appeal.

Oh cmon, it's not that hard to get into an apartment complex. He may have known the code, walked in by foot, or followed someone in who knew the code.

Rock you are right. I mean anyone coul get in there. I'm sure if it's a big apartment complex, there are people coming in every couple of minutes, all he had to do was follow him in. Heck, I doubt that Iverson's IQ is very high but I bet he could do that.

TheReason, why the reference to Iverson's IQ? Are you indicating that he's an unintelligent individual? If so, do the accusations made by this person indicate that Iverson is guilty and therefore an individual with a low IQ. I wonder sometimes about people like you. You're the type of person that post crap like this and then would be the first person to ask Iverson for an autograph while he was in the middle of eating dinner. BTW, if you are the type to interrupt a player's meal, what would that say about your IQ?

Iverson's very smart. He might be hard headed sometimes but the guy is very smart. The guy did well in college, and no way John Thompson let him stay on the team for about 3 years without being smart. And I'm guessing that if Iverson is as ticked off as they said he was he wasn't thinking straight, and I doubt if he stopped and thought "let me get a descrete car", I guess he could care less what kind of car he was driving. This entire situation seem suspicious to me. I'm going to wait for the police to clear things up before questioning Iverson and his IQ because two guys claim he threatened them.

Why is he a punk? Because you agree with everything the media says about him?

I think he's a punk cause he's gotten arrested for possesion of weed while carrying a gun, he was sentenced to 20 years in jail for maiming by mob or something like that, and now this. And that he doesn't give a darn about practice.

I don't know what exactly happened in that incident, but it sounds pretty dumb to have given him a 15 year sentence. Basically, it was a brawl at a bowling alley between a group of white teenagers and black teenagers. So there was 2 groups of people fighting with eachother. Only 4 got convicted, one being a 17 year old Iverson, he was tried as an adult. I don't know, 15 years for a fight, I guess I belong in prison too because I got into a fight once in highschool. Why did he get clemency, I don't know, maybe too many eyebrows where raised when it turned out the only 4 people charged for the brawl were all black, go figure:rolleyes:

I don't remember much about this other than seeing the surveillance tape on the news. A bunch of guys (including Iverson) were beating the crap out of a few other guys. I guess it is technically a "brawl" cause two groups were involved, but...one group was obviously winning.

Didn't show how it started or what was said to provoke or whatever.

Does this make Iverson a punk? Maybe...I don't think he's a Saint...could be a punk...could be a criminal protected by his fame and fortune...maybe not.

Really not a big deal either way.

Iverson is the biggest loser in the NBA, he has a severe case of ball hogititis, and is highly overrated.

Pffff, Iverson overrated? I think in about 10 years, we'll be able to look back and accurately analyze how good or bad a player he was. Jordan didn't win his first championship until he was 28 and Iverson is 27. Nobody calls this guy the next Jordan so I doubt anybody is gonna call him a failure if he doesn't follow MJ's career. I'm not gonna defend what he does off the court. Frankly, he is a bonehead, no doubt about it. As for what he does on the court, there are few players that play as hard as he does and there have always been star players who have skipped practices, they just weren't being coached by Larry Brown. I'm tired of people saying it's only because he shoots so much. Well, tell me why guys who are just as small and just as quick don't put up his #'s? Why aren't bigger guards doing the things he does. Iverson't limitations are based in his size, and even then he manages to over compensate by doing things like leading the league in steals.

PS As I'm writing this, I'm watching that Super Mario Bros. movie on tv, and I've noticed that one of the first guys to sport cornrows was Dennis Hopper as King Koopa:p

Beautifully put, Oski. Iverson is not a ballhog. He is a winner, on the court at least. I would be a ballhog too if everybody else on my team sucked ass.

That explains why you made your ridiculous statement then. Fairness and equity is not what you're about. Thanks for clearing that up.
