Okay it not really pointless but its just a thought about this guy. I dont really know him(Mark) that well or his story of how he gained his success in life($$$). But he reminds me of when i was a kid in Miami and i used to go to the Miami Heat Arena (the older one) with free Pizza Hut tickets in the nose bleed section, I would always be irritated by the stupid drunk Nerd with the Heat emblem tatooed to his arm that would freak out people and exaggerate about everything that happend on the court.
I just wanted to ask if any of you know what company does mark cuban actually run at this time and how did he get his money from? I imagine he has something to do with the start up boom!
I also wanted to ask is it legal half of the things this guy does in the stadium? Or does he get priviledges for being an owner? Because if he was treated as a normal fan i beleive he should have been kicked out of some stadiums in this league already!

Cuban founded Broadcast.com, which I believe was bought out by Yahoo. His current job is village idiot. Hope that helps.

I believe he founded Microsolutions and made most of his money there before receiving billionaire status with Broadcast.com

No, he doesnt own HDTV technology. The jerk wants to make HDTV network airing HDTV programs. He claims it's going to only serve the truth without corporate influnce. Also that reality show of his absolutely disgust me. He think he is Jesus.

He sold Yahoo stocks he was given in the take over deal at $100 per share when everybody poopooing it will be over $300. He bought them back at $10 2 year after when everybody cried it's going down like a stinky fart. As of today it's $30.52. Basically Yahoo made him rich.

Cuban co-founded Broadcast.com, which was the leading provider of multimedia and streaming on the Internet, in 1995, selling it to Yahoo! in July of 1999. Before Broadcast.com, Cuban co-founded MicroSolutions, a leading National Systems Integrator, in 1983, and later sold it to CompuServe. Broadcast.com sprang from Mark's desire to listen to Indiana basketball games over the Internet. Cuban ended up with around $4.5 billion from the sale of Broadcast.com. He bought the Mavericks from Ross Perot Jr. in 2000.

Cuban co-founded HDNet, an all high-definition television network on DIRECTV channel 199 which launched in September 2001. As with his other ventures, Cuban seeks to revolutionize the television industry with HDNet with more channels being planned.

I have met Mark Cuban and spoken with him several times and in person he's a really cool and funny guy who is a technology junkie like myself. However, his passion for basketball far exceeds anything I can muster up. You can laugh at him all you want but fans of the Mavericks will never doubt where he stands and how much he wants to win. Now compare that the situation here in Houston where there is legitimate speculation that the Rockets owner, Les Alexander, is looking to cash out and sell the franchise. All in all, which owner would YOU rather have?

I'd rather have Les. Cuban wants to win, so what? Most every owner wants to win, they just don't embarass the team the way Cuban does.

He's an embarassment because he simply cannot control his passions for his team and for basketball. He's not an embarassment in the mold of a Donald Sterling who simply could care less about fielding a winning team. Or an embarassment like a Les Alexander who has allowed a two-time championship team to slide into mediocrity and irrelevance while rewarding incompetance. Can you say with certainty that Les Alexander cares about winning just as much as does Cuban? Or, is he now simply looking to cash in on his "investment"? I don't know about you but as a Rockets fan, I want my owner to burn with the same fire and desire for my team to win it all that I feel inside. Anything less is, for me, completely unacceptable. And at this point in time, I can no longer say with any certainty that Alexander feels the same fire that burns inside of me.

Before Mark Cuban, the Mavericks were owned by Ross Perot Jr. Ross Jr. cared more for the real estate development currently in progress around the AAC than he did for fielding a winning team. So, he only did what was "necessary" to keep the value of his "team" high in order to attract a buyer so he could concentrate on the real estate development that's currently underway in downtown Dallas. Enter Mark Cuban in 2000 and the rest you all know. He's over-the-top and completely in-your-face. He's a certifiable SOB and a complete doofus in how he deals with the league. But, as the Mavericks' fans have pointed out to me, he's their doofus and their SOB and it's Mark Cuban's team that is playing tonight for the title while Les Alexander's team gets to watch them on TV.

    Hillboy,

I too have met him, and would LOVE it if he were the Rockets owner.

But, I am kinda happy that Miami won....does that make me evil?

Haha, you too? The old Miami Arena was such a scary place - there were always bums around offering to "watch your car" for 5 bucks

As a business man, I almost worship the guy.

As a owner/fan, I couldn't have any less respect for him. I have never seen an owner so b****y about everything. I understand his passion for this team, but when he is the headlines over the team, that's when it is a problem.

The guy sends videos of bad calls after every single game, he hires old officials to grade the game officials. All his complaining and whining is hurting his team more than anything else.

Any Cuban should know better than to think they can completely overtake Miami.

Les Alexander has tried to make changes to improve this team. He has made big moves they just haven't worked out. The guy is a good owner.

Cuban's team might still be playing if he didn't have that whole organization focused on whining about the officiating.
