A week or two ago, someone posted that Moochie and the Rockets were "close" on an agreement, and suddenly everyone was talking about him as if he had signed. Well, training camp opens soon, and I haven't seen an announcement from the Rockets. What's up with that? Did I miss something? Is he coming or not, and if not, what are our options? Oeilpere mentioned Omar Cook, and that seems possible, except that Nugzfan said he wasn't available. Nugzfan: If the Nugz plan to keep Omar, why did they just trade a second round pick to Dallas for Kenny Satterfield? The Mavs selected Satterfield, a questionable but potentially promising guard from Cincinnati, in the second round, and he averaged 15.2 points on 45.3% shooting in 10 games in the summer league. Oeilpere: Great as he is, Steve Francis is still young and has a lot to learn. What is the advantage to the Rockets in picking up a rookie point guard to back him up? Seems to me an older, more experienced player would be a better backup. That's why I proposed trading Walt & Moochie to G.S. for Jackson & Blaylock. I know Blaylock come with baggage, but so does Rice, and we traded for him. So, who's going to back up Steve this year? Are we still "close" on Moochie? I'd love to see him back, but he's not the only option. Are the Rockets now unable to move on anything until they get the DPE (or whatever it is you cognoscenti call the medical exception)? I really hope we're not going into the season with three guards and assuming Rice will play a lot of 2!
Apparently, they are waiting on the news from the league regarding the medical exception. If Mo would just keep his mouth shut...
boomboom...it makes no difference what mo says about his injury, its not going to effect the outcome of the leagues decision. the league uses its own impartial doctors to check out MO AND ITS BASED ON THEIR DECISION...
huh? wha? they plan on keeping omar? i dont think theres a chance in hell hes still a nugget once the season starts. cook for any decent backup big man is a good deal in my book.
Sorry, I thought you were that same Nugzfan who wrote the following in the thread Three who are still out there: From that, I got the mistaken idea that the Nuggets, who traded for him, wanted to keep him.
Do you mean because I waited a whole day after the Satterfield trade to post, or because I missed your public retraction?
Did everybody forget about Walt as a point guard? As a Maryland PG, he got the nickname "Wizard." Now, before everyone gets all hostile, I realize he is much too slow to cover starting (and some backup) points. However, remember he would be the third PG out of the chute and could be used in specific situations -- not against the Gary Paytons of the NBA. However, he surely would make the opposing team respect his shot if they didn't guard him tightly and that would further open the court to other shooters and slashers. Okay, now I have my umbrella up -- you may begin raining on the parade.
well the way you worded it ("if the nuggets plan to keep omar...") made me think you thought we might. misunderstanding.
