I've decided to expand the use of my ipod past music and tv shows to include podcasts. Searching around the iTunes store, I found some interesting political and music podcasts. Have any recommendations for any more of those or anything in comedy? Anything in general? Yes, The Onion podcast has already been included.
Slates 'political gabfest' is pretty good if you're into that scene. 60 minutes also has some good stuff.
I currently have: Democracy Now! NYT Front Page NPR's Fresh Air The Onion Edge Music Videocast I'll add the Slate one once I'm finished downloading those.
If you like Kevin Smith and his bull****, you can listen to his smodcasts. http://www.quickstopentertainment.com/?p=3868
Here are some good ones: Planet Japan: If you're interested in Japan and what it's like to live in that country, this is an excellent podcast to listen to. Their humor is kind of corny, but the information is fascinating, and quirky. It's not the kind of discussion you'll find in a dry documentary or guidebook. They talk about all the funny little tidbits about life in Japan. Tvguide Talk: Great podcast for tv fans. They also do previews of new movies. They've got good chemistry together and strong opinions, which I find refreshing. But they only talk about certain shows. So check the description to see if your favorites tend to be on the list. Cinemaslave: Great movie podcast. The guy does reviews and really knows how to "beat down" bad movies. Chud Show: This is by far my favorite podcast on this list. It's basically a bunch of guy sitting around discussing movies, and cracking jokes. The language is NSFW, but utterly hilarious. Their wit and personalities are incredibly sharp, and I probably find myself laughing until my sides hurt a couple times every episode. I also listen to the Tony Kornheiser radio show (only around for a few more months until monday night football starts again) and Loveline, but I figure those are an acquired taste.
I don't think they do them regularly right now, but Ricky Gervais has a lot of different old podcasts (they eventually switched to the pay Audiobook format) that are a freakin' riot.
