I am just mentally exhausted from arguing with this idiot on Facebook- could I please get someone halfway decent that will shut him up? His response to my contention that Glenn Beck presents a distorted view of history:

"Distorted? How so? He is not a 'hard' news reporter, he is an opinion guy and God forbid he actually succeeds in the private sector on his own merits, as opposed to the Chosen One who 'organized' a community. Once again, i have no problem with an opinion guy who states what he believes (as opposed to a politician who is dangerously ambiguous at best with his stated beliefs) and is extremely popular for doing so. Glenn Beck should be speck on your radar of concern since he doesnt hold the highest office in the land, he doesnt have the power of the gov't behind him, he is one man, a man you hate b/c of his beliefs that happen to run concurrently with the majority of this country. Unfortunately for you, you happen to give the 'President of the United States' an awful lot of leeway these days and i am pretty sure (although i didnt know you then so this is only a wild guess on my part) that you didnt give BUSH the same 'respect the high office' out when the progressives were trashing him at every turn, and that is fine. I lost a lot of respect for BUSH in his second term, but i digress.

If you hold your ire for an opinion guy, as opposed to a man who happens to be President and who happens to be running divergent of what this country was found on, that is your burden. But i certainly pay far more attention to those people in this country that happen to have a 'slightly more powerful position' than a host on Foxnews, although i do believe that the beliefs he espouses are what you really hate and since you dont have the courage in my humble opinion to say so, you demonize Beck, all the while hating what he stands for, not what he is. This is my opinion, take it or leave it, i am sure you will disagree, but thats America, i can still disagree w/o the President calling me an obstructionist, even though thats what Obama does on a regular while his party holds a super majority and gets to ram through whatever he wants practically w/o checks and balances and w/o restraint. Yes, i am more concerned about the President than i am Glenn Beck, to say the least."

I'd respond: "TL;DR. Glenn Beck is stupid and so are you."

Edit: Of course he'll misconstrue it as you simply ignoring his very good, thoughtful, correct argument!

I hate to say this, but someone who posts that type of argument on facebook is not going to be shutup by anything you say.

    Anyway,

Never argue with an idiot. The people watching won't be able to tell the difference.

The correct response is: "Did Glenn Beck rape and murder a girl in 1990?"

If the discussion was whether Beck presented a distorted view of history, your 'friend' didn't argue against that. He just said Beck is an opinion guy and much much less important than President Obama.

He also essentially said Beck is pretty irrelevant. Which is probably the smartest part of his rant.

I think you should defriend him at once, though.

Tell him that if he can't see what an idiot Beck is, how divisive his mad ravings are, how hurtful he can be to those he attacks with his bigotry, and that, more to the point, he doesn't believe anything he says, the tears are fake, and it is all for ratings, then you feel sorry for him. Sorry and disgusted. That you expected more from a friend you once held in high regard (doesn't hurt to throw a back-handed compliment in), and that it is your sincere desire to live long enough to see him finally come to his senses and regain his sanity.

    That sort of thing.

Beck makes at least 20 million from his contracts alone. He's no one to feel sorry for.

Glen Beck is a paid actor. He has a vested interest in making you beleive 'his message'. ...which is why he paints a distorted view of history. Obama, conversely isn't trying to talk about history ...but MAKE history. Whether you beleive in Obama's policies are not, he actually is trying to do something ...not just talk about it.

It never agreed with Bush's policies but one characteristic (maybe the only one) that I admired was his conviction and as warped as his opinions were, I honestly think he beleived his own BS. I don't think Beck beleives half of what he says. He's a paid actor.

Glen Beck lost all credibility, even as an OP ED guy, when compared Obama to Hitler. It was lazy, outlandish and offensive.

To Glen Beck: "Take it down a notch"

Thank you, thank you, thank you. My head is fixin' to explode with all the nonsense they spew. This was my response and I'm now finished with the moron:

You conspiracy theorists really crack me up. Where's Ollie Stone when you need him? The Beckites should be the subject of his next film:

"The Fabian Socialism Communism DaVinci Code Connection"

In this movie, Popeye Doyle uncovers a secret plot hatched during the Puritan period in which Cotton Mather and Increase Mather used the Salem Witch Trials to cover up their plan to develop a socialist oligarchy that was then secretly passed along to those who put up a front of free enterprise, from Daniel Webster to William Sumner to Warren Harding to William Buckley Jr. to J. Edgar Hoover to Richard Nixon to Ronald Reagan to Newt Gingrich to Ted Nugent. Popeye and his new partner, Robert Langdon, find the most up-to-date plan in the rocker panels of Sean Hannity's new car, and they uncover a Republican conspiracy to implement the Communist Manifesto, Rules for Radicals, A People's History of the United States, and the lyrics to Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited album into the legal and political framework of the United States as law.

Yep, Fabian Socialism: It's Got A Great Beat, And You Can Dance To It, Too!!!See More

Do I have your permission to copy-and-paste?

Seriously, I just don't get where all the craziness is coming from. Was it this wacky in the 1990s? Was Bill Clinton "Hitler" to them, too? (or just Ron Jeremy?) Fear Mongering 2010 is Alive and Well.
