How about add Vin Baker in frontcourt? It's a big chance to improve energy. Rocket must compete with Knicks, Raptors
    and Magics.
Forget his drink problem, Vin has productive rebounds and points , which will allay Yao's pressure.

    I agree with this.

Take a chance on Vin Baker. He's better than MoTay on the board and a far superior offensive player than Cato.

Sign him for the rest of the season for vet minimum (which will cost Les around 300 K). If he doesn't pan out, we simply release him and don't lose anything.

I really don't think that Baker is that bad a person. This is a guy who worked his ass off to become the all-star caliber player that he was. The Celtics (Ainge) really just lowballed Baker to get rid of his contract.

We can't just dump our 2 PFs who have guarenteed contracts for a guy who admittedly would be good on this team, but has alcohol problems that are a risk. We have no room on the team. What are we gonna do? Cut Wilkes?

After the season I'd definitely be all for it if we can get him in a backup capacity.

No room? how many people do we have on the IR? It would be just a matter of putting either boki or padgett on the IR. Even though its a low risk, there will be many teams interested also and he is an east coast guy i think.

We have 13 players on the roster...

we can have 12 on the active roster...and 3 on IR.

I say give the guy a 10 day and see if he is serious about being a player again.
We can put Boki or Pike or Padge on IR for that time and see if Vin can produce...and make sure he gets the supervision required to keep him off the sauce.

If he doesnt work out...what do we lose?

If he does....what do we gain?

I ordinarily would say no to something like this...but damn!...we neeed some help at the PF position....we can not continue to have nights like this where we get no production from that position.

If Mo would have been hitting like he normally does...we would have had a better chance to win .
It didnt help that Cato was sick....

I agree. We have a spot on the roster, so what the hell? If the guy can keep it together, he can help us a lot.

    If he doesn't... bye-bye.

edit: we have a spot if we put someone on IR. We could put Baker on IR when we sign him until we see how he works out in practice. Can you do that? Sign a guy and stick him right on IR?

If not, put one of the guys who JVG has glued to the bench.

I think that might be construed as sexual harrasment. But then again, he might just go for it.

We all know that Cato can't shoot, but he can rebound and dunk. Mo-T can shoot, but he had two off days, and so was Cat. What I don't like is, they all tried really hard to shoot out of the slump. They are experienced enough to calm down and think differently. If my aim is off tonight, how do I come back? Should I sacrifice the team and keep bricking? Or should I try to do more at the defensive end, pass more and get teammates more involved, drive more and try to go to the free throw line to get my confidence back? The reason I am saying this, they can prove, but adding Baker you are risking to make your two heavy contracts unhappy, and that's dangerous and really bad for the team.

Jayson Williams is not a bad shooter and could be available soon. Uniform color may have to be negotiated.

The only thing Vin and Eddie have in common is a drinking problem. Vin has a post game, and to the best of my knowledge, hasn't got temper problems.

If he can't play for the Celtics who DESPERATELY need him or someone like him, why should we want him?

Baker has options. I don't think he'd want to be here.

After following the Rockets since the late '70's, I should be in rehab.
