'Cause I don't get it. I see people posting "quitting/taking a break from Facebook." How the heck is FB addicting?
Because instead of checking your status once a day or once every few days, there are some junkies with no job and nothing better to do that will spend hours on there at a time mindlessly.
http://www.cracked.com/article_18461_5-creepy-ways-video-games-are-trying-to-get-you-addicted.html facebook itself isn't super addictive, it's moreso the stuff within facebook.
It's all those annoying apps and quizzes that the bored housewives spend all day taking. I had about 100 friends and last night I dropped 85 of them. I've just had it with the same people posting the same crap every 30 minutes and cluttering my wall. Yes, I know I can hide them....but there are really only 15 or so people that I actually care about keeping in touch with, so I cancelled everyone else. Everyone should try that. It was very freeing...
Women are the main ones that say that they have to "take a break" from Facebook. The reason for it is because they like to be in other people's business. They are noisy by nature and that's why they always want "the scoop". Facebook is like the needle that feeds their instincts to always get "the scoop."
i'm sure everyone has that one "friend" who thinks they're so clever and witty by posting some stupid ass quote every single damn day. quotes that supposedly they live by, you know, things like truth, honor, loyalty, love. pul-lease.
Facebook gradually stopped being addictive to me once they opened it to the public. 10 "upgrades" and 1,000,000 applications later, it just gets lamer and lamer. Especially now with all the parents and little nieces and nephews on there. I also made the mistake of accepting my students' friend invitation. I've had to pretty much delete 90% of my pictures, clean up my profile etc etc etc. It just isn't that fun anymore. Why do kids write on their teacher's wall and ask about the hw? wtf? Maybe I should take ima's advice.
I had to do the same thing, but with college students, them posting about how drunk they were one night right below an old Apple buddie's posting about how stoned he was turned out to give me a not so fresh feeling. It's not like I could post "I know, right!" or hit the "Like" button on either one. College kids got dumped!
What is annoying is when co-workers use it all day and say they are "social networking"... I think they're just being lazy!
Because instead of checking the forums once a day or once every few days, there are some junkies with no job and nothing better to do that will spend hours on there at a time mindlessly. Spoiler Edit: I guess that should read "with or without a job"
