So I skipped out of my office today because I couldn't really stand working any more, and I went next door to the Best Buy and saw that they had the NCAA Football 2005 demo available for people to try. I had read things about it on this BBS, and, being a sucker for college football games, I gave it a shot. I just have to say, for reference--I LOVE college football games, but I am like the poorest married college student in the world. I still play NCAA Football 99 on my old playstation, and can play it for hours at a time without getting bored. But this game was quite possibly the funnest college football game I've ever seen, and I loved the homefield advantage features. Now I saw that the PS2 runs about $149 over there, and the game about $50, for a total of about $200. I also saw a box for a brand new XBox for $149, with NCAA Football 2005 INCLUDED. I've never played the XBox but I have heard good things about it--but I have always been a Playstation fan. I was just wondering which system you guys prefer (although I'm sure this was once about fifteen different threads), and in particular for this game, as I can see that I would play it almost exclusively. Thanks in advance!
i have an xbox. the graphics are good. i don't regret getting it over ps2. the technology is better. however, ps2 has more games, and xbox2 is coming out real soon... so those are some things to think about.
I prefer the PS2 (personal preference), but most people say sports games have better graphics on the XBox since it has beefier hardware. Both support online play and will have all the major sports games released for them. In your case I would go with the XBox since it comes with the game that you want and the PS2 would also have the added cost of a memory card ($20-$30). Your saving about $80 right there.
I have both systems and I would pick XBOX everyday of the week. It's not that I dont like PS2, I just like XBOX that much better. Better graphics, runs smoother, hard drive, your very own customizable soundtrack of songs to play through games, etc. Plus, the XBOX Live service is great if you want to play online, especially of you have buddies that have it as well. I have a feeling we'll be seeing RCcola in here pretty soon. lol
I have both and prefer the XBOX, but much of that has to do with Halo and Halo2. I really like ESPN's NBA game and the NCAA game does indeed come bundled with a new XBOX (along with a tennis game that isn't half bad). The only game I REALLY miss on PS2 (since mine broke) is Twisted Metal: Black Online. XBOX would be my vote.
xbox is better AND it comes with the game you really want which is also more than likely a better version then the ps2 one. your decsion is easy.
At this point in the products life cycle, that difference doesn't mean too much So Xbox only has 350 really good games, while PS2 has 600. It's not like you're going to run out on either system. I prefer xbox, my ps2 has been consigned to the closet for a while.
I think this statement might be very wrong. This shouldn't even be debatable - ESPECIALLY if you want to play online, or save in dynasty mode etc. Xbox's hard drive alone makes it better than PS2. And quit it with the more games thing already - I have a PS2 as well and can safely say that 90% of the games are crap. Xbox now has HUNDREDS, yes HUNDREDS, of games.
I have both PS2 and Xbox but I buy all my sports games for Xbox because I just like the controller and the online experience. Both of them are pretty good
http://www.hdtvpub.com/productdb/ga...solution&daStartRow=1&showRows=25&searched=do 241 xbox games are available in hi def of some form. 51 PS2 games are available in hi def of some form. Though why somebody would want to watch jaggies in HD is beyond me...
No. It has a built-in hard drive to save EVERYTHING on. The only reason you would want to have a memory card would be if you wanted to bring a saved game or something to a friend's house.
bottom line... most people who have both, prefer buying the xbox version of games that come out over both platforms. If there are really some ps2 games that you just have to have, then go with that. Everything else, go with xbox. More powerful, has a hard drive, doesn't conk out like the older ps2 ones did (mine did... part of the reason for the switch... my guess is the new slim ones don't give you as much problems), and I love the controller.
Xbox all the way, especially if you like Sports games. Those saves for dynasty, franchise modes can take alot of space, and having a 8gig HD for memory helps alot...
In your case, it sounds like XBox all the way. From what I can tell, it seems like you would like to play sports game and whatnot and that would be perfect for the XBox. For sports game (and others), I think the XBox probably has an advantage over the PS2 in just about every area, except for maybe the controller, IMO. Plus, XBox Live would be nice. If you like other games, such as RPG's and platformers, the choice is a little more difficult. Games like Metal Gear Solid 3, Jak 3/ R&C:UYA/ Sly 2, Devil May Cry 3, Grand Turismo 4, Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts, Resident Evil 4 (well technically it is also on GC, but this is about just XBox and PS2), etc., will most likely be only on the PS2. Of course, if you are a little strapped for cash, this wouldn't really factor in too much. You could probably stick with getting the sports titles for the XBox that you like, such as NCAA FB 2005, along with Halo 1/2, Ninja Gaiden, DOA, Fable, KOTOR 1/2, and a few others (although some of those are also available on PC, or have better counterparts, IMO). It doesn't really become a big disadvantage unless you play a lot of games and/or think that you'd prefer some of the PS2 games to the Xbox games. In my case, I'd go with the PS2, but I tend to like games that the PS2 specializes in. Hehe...believe me, it pains me that I can't post in the HL2/H2 conclusions thread since I've yet to have a chance to play either to see their stories. Good point. I imagine that if you buy the XBox, get NCAA along with maybe a few other games, and subscribe to XBox Live, you'd be spending a good amount of money. If you think you can wait about a year, you can save up for the XBox2/PS3/Revolution (not sure about that one) and play the new Madden: Or you can play NFSU 3 (this one doesn't quite seem to have the same leap in graphics as the Madden one though):
I'd look at what games exist on the platform that you might want to play other than the sports games. I bought a PS2 because I got it for this Madden tournament I did, and everyone wanted to play it on the PS2, so that's what I bought. I'm happy with it.
