Lets discuss players who had their best statistical seasons their rookie year or regressed after it.

Eric Monstross averaged 10ppg and 5rpg his rookie year. Although not great numbers, he made the all-rookie team, but did nothing else the rest of his career.

Adam Morrison is still active, but he will likely never sniff an NBA court again. His 11ppg on god awful shooting is likely his magnum crappy opus.

It may not have really been his best season, but Wes Unseld won his only MVP award as a rookie.

Keith van Horn comes to mind, but IIRC his second year was a bit better. But that was one player that faded fast.

Harold Miner is another guy who comes to mind. He came into the league and was a decent rookie, but was gone after just a few years.

LePhonso Ellis had arguably his best season as a rookie, but his career was ruined by injuries.

Though, he didn't really regress till a few years later, Ralph Sampson had his best year statistically his rookie year.

    Spencer Haywood
    30 ppg
    19 rpg

Next best season was his 4th with 29 ppg, 13 rpg which is also damn good, but not like his rookie season.

You could make an argument that Dikembe's best season was his rookie year. He averaged 16.6 pts, 12 rebounds and 3 blocks, and never average much more than 13 again.

Luther scored 14 pts as 6th man in the Kings opener... :p of course, Tyreke was doing his suspension, so Luther's minutes are going down soon.

Willie Anderson. The guy looked like he was poised to be an all star for multiple seasons. An almost do-it-all swing man. Still had a decent career overall but nothing as promising as his rookie outing.

Technically Odom's best season was probably #2, but he hasn't improved at all after over 10 years in the NBA.
