In the off season, we have a bunch of wild and wacky sign/trade ideas for whatever is the best free agent out there. Here are some players with their scouting reports and who and why we should go after them.

    1. Rasheed Wallace- great great great player. The player we all want eddie to become. Can stroke from anywhere, can play D, post up, shoot outside, rebound, block shots, do it all kind of player if he can keep his head on str8, but that is a big IF. He's got a crappy atitude and we should pass on this guy.

    2. Lamar Odom-Can basically do it all kind of player. Likes to pass, can shoot from anywhere and creates match up probelms for a lot of teams. I would love to sample this guy at pg and steve at the 2. That would give us a big enough guy to D up the other teams 2's and steve could play his halfa$$ D against the other teams pg. I like the combo of a 6'10 point forward and steve. After his drug suspensions, I wonder about his character and the risks involved with him, mo, eddie on the same team. We might take a risk on this guy at the right price. something like 5-6mil/4years. Other than that no. Trade anyone but Yao and Steve, with maybe Cat.

    3. Elton Brand- This is what I think is the best option out there for us. An Enforcer. This guy is like Ben Wallace with some offense. He blocks shots, hits the boards (especially the offensive boards, god knows we have a ton of these with the bricks we put up sometimes) and he is extremely efficient scoring wise. He doesn't really need to post up and be fed the ball to get his points cause he can get them from putbacks. He'll do a lot of banging which in today's NBA, there is a lack of. Whatever cost to get him minus Yao or Steve.

    4. Jermaine O'Neal- Here's the poster boy for what the Eastern Conference can do to you. Jermaine is not what we are looking. He scores 21 ppg against the east's big man. He's still too frail to bang with the western conference big boys. He gets frustrated easily. He has no post up game. He's got a pretty good jump shot, but we need a banger with Yao shooting a few too many fadeaways (albeit it works for him when its on, i prefer to see yao back down). He's got pretty decent D. O'neal also starts to fade out when the times get tough. He was jammed up by Kenyon Martin the last 2 years in the playoffs and he couldn't break through the slump(kmart is a good defender though). He's not worth the max like he's gunna ask for and even though he's an upgrade on our pf's he's not going to be as efficent in the Western Conference. Pass on this guy also

    5. Kurt Thomas-Very similar to O'neal. Again this guy is a product of the Eastern Conference and as we all know KG, Duncan, Shaq, Sheed, Brand, Webber, Malone don't get to face this guy 4 times a year. He's decent, but once u make the transition from East to west, i think he's gunna find it a little harder to maintain 11 ppg and 49% shooting. Get him at the right price, 4mil/3yrs.

    6. Jamal Crawford- I think this guy would be a good puzzle piece to fit with Franchise. A 6'5 pg that can D up and pass would help out a lot. He's also got a nice stroke. Give this guy moochie's contract

    7. Alvin Williams- Williams is similar to Crawford, but he's a little more offensive minded though. I think with him and Steve in the backcourt, its too similar to Steve and Cat. Williams is moreso a combo guard than Crawford. He averaged one more assist than crawford with rought 9 more minutes of playing time per game. Williams can also D up with him being the same height as Crawford. I don't think we are really in that big of another combo guard, rather a pure point. I'd give this guy mooch's contract also, if they'll take it.

    8. Eric Snow- I once heard kobe say, "Eric snow is the toughest defender he's ever played against. He's so quick and so strong." Goes to show you how good his Defense is. He's a pure point and he's got D. We could be the 76ers Plus Yao ming when we Steve to the 2. He's got an "okay" jump shot and can pick up some of the scoring slack if need be (13ppg at 45%). I'd love to have this guy. 6.5mil/5years, or a trade with Cat involved.

I want to take you to task about some of the assumptions you made, but I won't at all.

J.O'Neal is a very good pf in any conference. Check his numbers and you'll see he avg 20pts and 10 rebs against the west's best pf's period.

R.Wallace is not a great player period. He's a good player, but if i had my choice, i'd take O'Neal or even Brand over him. Why? Look at his postseason stats and you'llnotice in the biggest games, you can't find him at all. When the Lakers were making that run in the 4th qt 3 yrs ago, where did he go? When Dirk was 2-8 and he was 2-9, guess what happened in that game 7. Dirk kept attacking while he slumped.

Its true alot of players are discussed on this board, and for thats what good about bbs. Alot of times , posters want to see whats best for the Rockets and thats cool. I think the word "great" is used too often when describing good players though.
