OK hit me with the racial blasts if you'd like but I am so impressed with what Barry, Sura and Padgett are doing I had to do this. It seems to me that when they are in the line-up the energy is so high other players can't afford to relax. Sura has done what we've wanted Steve to do forever. He plays aggressive team ball, no tricks and no chicanery, he makes good decisions and keeps players alert. Jon Barry brings the no-nonsense approach to every possession, he plays as if every game is a game 7 and opens up the floor with his shooting and ball distribution. Padgett is what Bull was with more athleticism. He hustles defensively and requires attention on the offensive end because of his shooting. On a side, I LOVE diversity. Sure I cheer when black athletes do well because of some deeply rooted abstract reasoning of mine, but I recognize excellence no matter what the race, and I gotta say that these three are really getting it done. Play on PLAYAS!!
Forget race, I like to throw in Wesley, Deke, and Howard with Sura, Barry, and Padgett and the Rocket role players become the super best friends
We've been putting up the OK hand signal everytime they score for the White Boy Power Club (the three fingers up make a W and you have a "b" with the index/thumb circle and middle finger up). I love these guys and this team!
Man, the Chron article really brought a big smile to my face. Reading quotes tfrom the players saying how this is the most fun they have had in their career (Deke), saying he has never laughed in the locker room like he does with his teamates now about the old jokes etc.
The "White Boy Power Squad" RULES!!!.......say it with me now The "White Boy Power Squad" RULES!!! The "White Boy Power Squad" RULES!!! The "White Boy Power Squad" RULES!!!
Clearly, they could only hope to attain status as the Houston Rockets North. Naturally, that will never be allowed to happen.
This is crazy but sometimes my favorite lineup is Yao, Padgett, Barry, Wesley, sura It's hilarious to see but that team spreads defenses so wide. Of course if they aren't hitting then we'd better hurry up and get some defensive guys in there. It's nice to know that we dont' have much of a drop off when we go to our bench. That's the main thing i like. If anything sometimes our intensity is greater with barry coming off the bench.
Seriously, our retro unis should include the short-shorts. We have enough white legs to do them justice.
We had this discussion a few games ago when the Rox played uh...somebody. It was a whole discussion about the power of white people on championship teams. Somehow it spinned off to a Jack Haley discussion. Anytime you have a good 4 or 5 threads devoted to Jud Buchler and Will Purdue, you know its a good thread.
Might I state the obvious but pass some more love around. TMac is playing better than everybody imagined. Not only is he scoring but he now often takes the most difficult defensive assignment especially when we need a stop. Heck, TMac played PF guarding Odem in the Laker win. He is also an incredibly unselfish passer. He's been everything Weisbrod said he wasn't!!! I have to say I enjoy watching the whole team. They are all a pleasure to watch. I'd like to see a little more consistent offense out of Wesley but he is improving so that is okay.
