Our center position at a glance... Willis is old & a pain to watch post up. Cato started out the season well but seems to have returned to his shell as of late. His play overall has been better than the other seasons, but still nothing to brag about. Obviously neither of these is an answer to the center position, and neither is Collier. However Collier has a better chance to become a solid contributor for this team in the next few years, so why not give him some MUCH NEEDED Pt (as long as he gets rid of those black high socks that is). It is a pain to watch Collier run the floor & jump mainly because he can't do either too well. But he has solid fundamentals, can ACTUALLY SET A SOLID pick, can shoot, is a legit 7 foot with a BIG BODY, and can probably finish better than Cato or Willis. Hell Collier could prolly post up better than either of those two also. I used to cringe at the thought of Collier going up for a layup in traffic for fear of seeing it get stuffed, but after watching Cato's pansy ass layups and Willis fumbling the ball outta his hands, I'm ready for a bit of Collier. I used to advocate Cato over Collier b/c of Cato's shotblocking, but he's averaging less than 1 block a game anyway so the point is moot now. At least Collier will go out there and give it his all. Cato upsets me more b/c theres potential but it's not being used... at least with Collier I know he's trying hard so I don't get too upset when he screws up. Willis tries hard but he's old and won't be with us much longer. Develop Collier!
I actually would like to see the same thing -- hey, we're not getting anywhere fast with Cato, why not give Collier a shot? I wonder if Jason really has been injured this season (rather than made up injury), b/c he seems to be just Rudy's kind of guy. When he came in the game the other day, I thought he played okay for someone who's been out all season. He's not a great rebounder or shot blocker, but he's really pretty big, and he hit that outside jumper he took. I watched him closely on the boards and it seemed that he just wasn't in position for them. I still think Collier could become a servicable center in this league, and I hope he gets a bit more PT.
In the last game when Collier was getting garbage minutes, I really liked the way he looked out there. Lots of hustle, and his outside shooting is great. Steve, Cuttino, and Griffin will get the vast majority of rebounds anyway, so if JC could turn into a 10pt-6rb guy, I'd be happy. And I don't agree with those who say he can't run. Hell, Collier had 10 points and a few boards against Shaq his rookie season, and went out to a freaking standing ovation at home last year after that performance. Same goes with Langhi. Morris certainly hasn't shown he's worth any minutes at all at this point. I'm not calling to make DL and JC our starters here, but Langhi at least deserves half the minutes Morris is getting, and JC deserves some minutes Cato is wasting. Hustle and heart mean a lot to me, and those two have something to prove. Hell, at least let them PROVE that they suck before you start making up injuries. C'mon Rudy. Give the white boys a shot.
I kindof wouldn't mind seeing langhi getting time at the 3 and torres at the 2, along with Collier at the 5 spot. I think maybe we could put togther the bench mob like Sac has. Guys who know their role, go out and change the pace and tempo of the game. The only problem is , the Rockets system is designed for 1 or 2 people and the kings sytem is designed for the entire team. I bet you Langhi could do just about what turkelou is doing with the kings. Their offense is so fun to watch.
I agree Lynus -- I liked the way he looked. And before he had his injury, he really was looking like a good pick last year, with some good shooting and rebounding games. I think Collier did pretty well in the game the other day, and Rudy may give him some more minutes for that. And note that we sent Langhi back to the IR rather than JC. Perhaps Rudy is planning on bringing him along . . .
I agree, collier needs some PT. He has a nice outside J, and hes a hard worker. And with our current dearth of centers and inept play at that position, we couldnt possibly get much worse. Come on, we gotta give collier a shot. And langhi also, he has tremendous potential. I realize that my comparison with him and dirk novitzi was probably unfounded, but i still think he can be a contributor to this team. I dont know why we dont give them any PT. I like T-Mo, hes a hard worker but if we give T-Mo the minutes, why not langhi?
1. T-Mo plays defense. Langhi doesn't. 2. T-Mo can play the 4. Langhi can't. 3. T-Mo gets defensive rebounds. Langhi can't, and doesn't. 4. T-Mo passes. Langhi doesn't. The shooting argument means absolutely nothing, because Langhi is shooting 37.3% for his career, and is yet to hit a 3 pointer. Against Portland, T-Mo got as many assists as Langhi has gotten in his entire career (5). Right now, Langhi is very 1-dimensional, and he's not doing that dimension very well.
Ohhh okay. well i am and always have been a big proponent of langhi, and its like when you first found out santa clause didnt exist and you know he doesnt exist but you wanna believe he does: i know langhi sucks, but i dont wanna believe it.
The shooting argument means absolutely nothing, because Langhi is shooting 37.3% for his career, and is yet to hit a 3 pointer. You're argument is flawed b/c Langhi is shooting 37.3% while playing very little/inconsistent minutes. If he starts getting some consistent minutes and is still shooting 37.3%, then I'll agree that the shooting argument means nothing. gas: pityful response
Our centers suck ... so play Collier more so we'll have a good one eventually. I actually agree. GREAT GREAT strategem alaskansnowman. Collier getting good learning playing time may = Ming. bounce bounce bounce.
True that. We dont really know that al this is true since we havent really been given the opportunity to play. I still think with PT langhi can be a lot bette. Poo and Gay ass: Shutup, i was juss speaking my mind but now i came back to yall side
