If JVG want to light a fire up his ass he should just play him for 30+ minutes. Give him a chance to go 0-20 with 3rbs and 10 turnovers. If thats what it takes to get him embarassed and show some humility, lets do it. Maybe it will make him work harder and into game shape. Right now he's got no motivation. Play him on Fri, Dec 8 at Charlotte, I want to see Okafor block the fool 10 times. Oyeah it would be funny watching him huff and puff his way down the court. Bonzi Wells "Marathon Man"
If we lost a game because we just had to prove to Bonzi that he was out of shape... smart move. One win means nothing right? The West isn't competitive. Even if Bonzi figures out that he is out of shape (we don't know that that is the 'why' for sure), who's to say he would get in shape. If that's what it is, embarrass him in practice where games don't count. Also, some people react negatively to embarrassment.
i hate jvg, but this is one situation where i have a funny feeling this is bonzis fault. the one thing that has bothered me about this whole thing is that jvg has given us no idea what the fudge is going on. if bonzi isnt gonna get in shape i say either trade his a@# and if u cnat get anything for him mabyee even cut him. he has had a month to get into some kind of shape and sadly it seems there had been no progress, well heres to hopein.
I think he did OK in Kings before he screwed up his contract, otherwise why there was such a crush when we signed him in the first place?
i'd rather keep winning games and trade his lazy ass if he doesn't get in shape. we are 10-5 in november. we played more road games than home games. we played more winning teams than losing teams. we were without our best +/- guy for a while, and then lost a rotation player. we are still 10-5. JVG's teams allways start slow. i can't wait to see how this team looks when they get rolling. december looks even harder but i bet we will have 20 wins before the month is over. if we're 20-11 heading into january and february (easy schedules) then i don't think there is a need for bonzi. i wouldn't hesitate to trade him for something we can use.
That tells you how bad it is. If Van Gundy knew that would ignite Bonzi, he would do it. The problem is that Bonzi would just justify his performance by saying that he hasn't played since blah blah blah and he has to work himself back into shape on the court. It would not sink in to Bonzi that HE is the problem, not JVG or anybody else.
