Tell us your plans for the 4th of July?! You got any? What are my Rocket brethren doing for this joyous and meaningful holiday this year?

I for one, am going to the Incubus concert July 4th at Smirnoff Music Center in Dallas. Other than that, no plans. :D

    Share your plans with us!

I think I'm going to try to join the 15,000 people every year who try to sneak into Universal Orlando to see their fireworks display.

That and hope that no terrorists have the theme parks here targeted for action!

I'm gonna be in the Boston area, for some much needed R&R.

I agree with ROXRAN, I'm not gonna hide.

What are the water levels gonna be like on Lake Travis (north)? If they're not too high, I'm gonna head down there.

I know my explanation cant do this justice, however i will give it a whirl.

every town has its day. my town completely OWNES the 4th. Many of you know that i live on an Island in the hamptons area. well for the 4th, our populatiuon swells from 2500 wintertime to over 15,000 summer, and swarm to one spot. its called Louis beach if you are old, Crecent beach to Most, and Sunset beach to the ignorant hamptonites that swarm to the resturant/club of same name which is perched there. The beach is packed by 10AM, and some how continues to fill as the day progresses. the waters fill with boats, and even 250' yatches. in fact nearly every boat in peconic bay shows up, and a rough estimate would put that at around 7,000 boats. possibly more (there are several anchorages which I have no Idea how filled up they get. all the surrounding coastal towns also join us in celebration.

celebration you say... yes its called BBQ and beer. Island wide suspension of open container laws near acceptance of weed, and food every where. oh did I tell you that the island swarms with amazing looking momen from the hamptons.

    what I do there....

my friends and i get together several floating docks, and build a LARGE raft, or "Island". we cover that with astro-turf, couches, a full bar, BBQ grilles (last year we ate pork tender loin),we decorate with bamboo trees which grow locally. add about 30 friends a stereo and around the raft we "raft" other boats to us making it the ultimate party location at the beach that day/night, and well to be honest whole weekend. we rock out till a bit after the fireworks end, and then leave the "island" behind.

the beach is like a full on block party, we indulge, but on our way to a house just down the beach where a rich family pays our friends to play for the evening. we all semi-crash the party(as we are invited by the band and welcome by the homeowners) we all dance our buns off, till the band ends. next we all gorilla over to the afore mentioned resturant/club "sunset beach" we do the bar/ club thing, and eventually get ourselves to the other bars. get home around 5am, but rarely alone.

    best day of the year.
oh, and we celebrate it on a saturday here(tourist town)
this will be the 5th year with the raft

    Peace

I won't be doing a damn thing except sleeping late and being happy that I have a 4 day weekend (I have to use vacation for Friday, though...:( ).

That is just the way I like it, too.

A friend owns a house on the south shore of Clear Lake, right on the water. She's having a big barbecue. From her pier we can get a really up close and personal view of the fireworks on Clear Lake. I'll be there.

BBQ/swim at the bosses house and then probably go to Splashtown for the fireworks. 4 day weekends rule!
