We are planning a trip to Austin....my wife, brother (16 years old) and myself. We would like to stay in an awesome hotel suite (of course, within a budget of $100 a night) and would like to tour the city. My question is, what hotel is good and reasonable. I have some sites I know I want to visit, but any recemmendations would be helpful. Various tips about everything would be appreciated....thanks in advance

Funny you say that, I'm having trouble finding one. I've had luck in the past going to other places at that price.

Going this weekend, leaving friday at 4, coming back sunday.

My friend found a corporate suite in the Great Hills area for 25 dollars a night once on priceline. All the hotels outside downtown are all fairly new so I would do the priceline thing.

That's what I do when I go to Houston and I usually get one of the 5 stars like the JW Marriott by the Galleria for less than 75 bucks a night.

You want a nice place for $100/night? Good luck with that. The Radisson on 1st and Congress has suites, and is in walking distance of everything. There's also a Renaissance Inn downtown off 4th St. across from the convention center that's pretty new. As far as things to see/do:

    - Dinner at The Salt Lick
    - Breakfast tacos at Juan in a Million
    - Drinks in the warehouse district (219 West, Six, etc)
    - Walk down South Congress and grab some ice cream from Amy's and some margaritas at Guero's
    - Mount Bonnell
    - LBJ library
    - Hike the Barton Creek greenbelt
    - Go for a run off Town Lake
    - Check out the UT campus, and stroll down the drag (Guadalupe)

I've stayed at Residence inns before in Austin, so that is the site I went to. If you can go to $110/night, there are a few other options, as well.

    Just google residence inn.

360 hits mopac (loop 1) and you can take it downtown (exit 5th or 1st) or campus (windsor exit). 15 minutes

if your going to stay in the arboretum area and wanting something pretty cool to do and its completely free is. take the "360" exit south right its the exit right before great hills exit to get to the arboretum on hwy 183. anyways you will go south for several miles and park right before the bridge on the right. its a great place to watch a sunset. you climb up a pretty steep hill and chill for an hour or so before sunset. all free :D

I live in Austin. A fiend of mine came into town 2 weeks ago and got a killer deal at the Omni Downtown. Around a $100 a night for a 1500 sqft suite, 2-2 with kitchen/bar/dinning room/ 3 balcones. It was 90's decor but a great deal none the less. Check em out. I think he might have found that on priceline...not too sure.
