First off, i know that we are looking to move up in the draft to get a legitimate big, but what if that doesn't pan out? There are still many ways to make this team better through this draft. What do you all think it would take for Minnesota to give us the #16 pick? Taylor+cash? A future pick? If they were able to get the 16th pick, they could draft Paul George(SF) at 14 and James Anderson(SG) at 16. Then acquire the two 2nd rounders that i spoke of earlier( Greivas Vasquez PG, Omar Samhan C). This plan allows you to still have important pieces to get Bosh or whoever. Tell me, what do you think. Also, do you have a better plan b? I don't know.....
I think Minny is looking for as many assets as they can get... So maybe, something like.. Wolves get- Taylor Cash consideration 2012 NY pick Rockets get- 16th pick 'If' we could get this done than I would look to draft George with the 14th pick and Whiteside with the 16th pick.... --RB
Isn't that a likely earlier (<<16) Round One pick in 2012 plus Taylor plus cash for the 16th pick? Kind of lop-sided, no?
Depends on how the Knicks do this offseason. That trade would be up in the air, because neither the Rockets nor the Wolves can predict what will happen in NY.
so would you rather have the 6th pick through the end of Round One in 2012 or the 16th pick this year instead? I'd let it ride and keep the 2012 pick on the odds that NY stinks again.
They were both leaders in thier conferences and will find a way to fit into the league. On the right team of course.
Too much of a chance you're taking. When there are so many good players in this current draft, it would be wise to build as much of your future team as possible. This draft has already been projected as being deeper than last years and looks to be better than next. Better professional potential. Face it guys the new CBA has created a great opportunity for us. All of this time we have been pining for Bosh when all along we have been sitting on a gold mine. We have the picks and the talent to make some serious moves in the draft. My new stance is to use every asset possible to try and milk this draft as much as possible. IMO, there should be 7 untouchables on this team(Yao,Brooks, Lowry, Hayes, Ariza or Battier, Martin and Scola. Everyone else can be replaced, not because of thier play but because of thier value. My point is, now is the time. I would even dangle Brooks out there to get me another lottery pick.
I don't follow it closely enough to compare this year's entire draft-eligibles to next year's.... but what if that 2012 NY pick ended up being the 6th selection. Would it have been worth it then-- depends on who we got and how they turned out. I'm more of a volume drafter-- given that there are so many busts even in the lottery and so many non-lottery 1st Rounders and 2nd Rounders that go on to have solid careers.
I admit, i base alot of my opinions off of what some experts say, mainly Chad Ford and Hollinger, but that is because of thier past successful ratings systems. For example, i had ESPN Insider for awhile and was able to research past draft orders by Ford and draft ratings by Hollinger. They were both 85+% on thier predictions as far as talent. As a matter of fact, if you go over to the "most pro potential thread, there is the draft rating system for this year and last year. Hollinger last year got 12 of the first 18 right.
A little change in planning(probably not the last). Now lets focus on Memphis and the #12 pick, Minny and the #16 and Atl. w/#24. These are all very likely scenarios. Much more than trading up in the top 10.
