I was just wondering if any of you guys know of any good places to play poker around here. I've been searching for a while and wanted to see if there is some of bar or something to that sort that plays poker around our area...??
There is a no limit poker tourny for cash at a bar called Scorecards on Silber and I-10 every tuesday at 8pm. Buy in is $30 dollars and they have $20 rebuys for the first hour. Usually they get about 50-60 players.
I don't know any GAY bars. I think the Brazos River Bend Bottom, or something like that? I saw a few pokers coming out of there and scream at each other in the parking lot... "he's my boyfriend!"
You know, that's illegal. Really illegal. Um, stay away from there, cause you could get busted soon. Fun poker: theres a league. www.nationalpubpokerleague.com $ poker: www.homepokergames.com (home games listings) $ poker at legal joints: www.pokerpages.com You're only allowed to gamble in public establishments like casinos and Indian exempt places. Houston doesn't have any.
Actually, I was told that the fine could be up to $500. Anyway, I play at a lot of places listed in the APL. It's pretty fun, and you build up your points and get invited to tournaments. The only downside to free poker, is some ppl play like idiots, and you have a lot of newbies who aren't very quick to recognize the board.
The fine is up to $500 for gambling. The owners/operators/dealers can be hit with higher degree misdemeanors that carry the possibility (if not the probability) of jail time and significantly greater fines.
Again, it's a class C misdemeanor so rarely will the fine be over 100. Additionally I play poker with (guess who) COPS! Of the local tourneys I've played, I play with not only street cops but high ranking Harris County officials. But not in a public place.
Ok, so I stand corrected. Actually, I sit at my desk, corrected. I play with some of the local cops here (Ft. Bend) and that what I was told. What's your game, AB?
Yeah we do free poker league tournament games on Tuesday and Fridays one tournament starting at 7 and the other at 10. If you want a location of all the places in Houston that play in this league check out www.nationalpubpokerleague.com
Dealer calls! I like hold'em but only in tournaments. My favorite is Omaha because people use hold'em strategies in playing their hands, by the time they realize they have crappy cards they've invested too much to get out!
At the end of May (last weekend), I will be having a big poker tourney at the house we are moving out of. Since the house will be basically empty, we will be able to run up to 6 tables and can go all day long. Once I have details, I will send them out. If you would like to receive the details, email me through the board and I will make sure you get an invite. Should be fun.
I like Omaha as well. I got my butt handed to me in the beginning, but after a few months of losing my money, I'm starting to win money.
