Looking to start doing a little website designing out of boredom and was trying to get organized by having a few suggestions in the right direction. I was lokoing to learn JAVA and PHP since I was told they are fairly complementary languages for designing/maintaining sites. Anyone have any favorite books or sites they like to go to to get started on this sort of thing?
video tutorials from lynda.com are quick and easy, you can get them from the usual sources. I learned php\mysql from this book: http://www.amazon.com/PHP-MySQL-Web...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1278632191&sr=8-1
Hmm... You'll need to know valid XHTML and valid CSS (up to 3.0) before all else. Then I'd suggest learning Javascript (this is not at all the same as JAVA so don't get them confused), JQuery, and C# (will generally make you more money than PHP). www.w3schools.com is a great resource for tutorials and quizzes
