hes a free agent, and at 6'5 220lbs with limited range, his game is very similar to bonzi as a post up SG/SF type except PJ is much more athletic and he's a very good rebounder for his size. not to mention he's not a ******. anyone think we should sign him as bonzi insurance?
I'd sign him to a non garunteed contract and give him a shot at making the team. I would like to see what he can do in the summer leagues.
Agreed. To much of an unknown to sign him straight out, but I think PJ could make the roster if he played to the best of his ability.

no doubt, if Gibson and Tucker had of stayed, Texas would have been nasty year...Aldridge for that matter too. Augustin Gibson Tucker Durant Aldridge who knows, Durant probably wouldn't have come here if that happened
I alway's thought the guy could be a Mario Ellie type of player and wuold like to have seen the Rockets drop a 2nd rounder on him last year. Of course since he is a free agent I guess it doesn't really mater.
i really hate uneducated posts like these. you have no idea what you're talking about. there was no reason pj should have stayed at UT. first of all, he had nothing left to prove in college. he was already the big xii player of the year. his draft stock wasn't going to increase anymore. had he stayed another year, he would be in this years stacked draft and he probably would have go undrafted. he made the right decision to enter the draft last year. he got a contract from the raptors so he's getting paid even though he got released.
PJ tucker is even small for a 3. The dude needs to develop an outside shot if he wants any chance of staying in the NBA.
At this point in Tucker's career, Bonzi is Ray Allen compared him. Bonzi can knock down an NBA 3 at a high enough clip to make him a threat. Tucker has yet to prove that can play any type of perimeter game. He was one of my favorite college players, but when he tried playing outside his last year at Texas he seemed uncomfortable.
Your kidding right? Not saying we should bring tucker in, but you think were set at power forward because we have hayes?
Reasons why he would stay: - Is big XII poty that big of a deal? Im pretty sure thats not the highest award in bball - he obviously needs to develop his game, specifically outside shooting, hard to do that riding the bench - him and DUrant go to the final 4 and then Tucker is a borderline lotto pick based on hype
of course the big xii player of the year award isn't the highest award in basketball but it's just one of the reasons that shows that he had nothing left to prove in college. yes, it's hard to develop your game while riding the bench but had he stayed at texas, he would have kept playing power forward. with durant playing small forward and dj augustin and aj abrams in the backcourt, pj would have just been a low post player. he wouldn't be taking any perimeter shots. also, pj tucker did enter the draft at first without an agent in case he wanted to come back to texas for his senior year, however, that means he would have to pay for all of his expenses in participating and flying to all the predraft workouts and camps. i believe pj's family wasn't exactly very well off so that's why after declaring for the draft, he decided to go all out and stay in the draft. he was quoted saying that if he was going to enter the draft, he was going to stay committed and go all in. why do you think daniel gibson left last year? surely he lost a lot of draft stock after starting his sophomore year as a projected top 10 pick but the reason for that is because his point guard skills weren't nearly as good as people thought they would be. he played shooting guard in his last year at texas but he can't make it in the nba as a shooting guard due to his height (which he is somewhat disproving with his much improved play as of late). had he stayed at texas, he would have continued to play shooting guard especially with 5-star recruit dj augustin coming in to assume the point guard duties. with the fact that he would have continued to play shooting guard had he stayed at texas coupled with the knowledge of this years stacked draft, gibson also made the decision to enter the "weaker" draft and it paid off. obviously pj hasn't fared as well as gibson but he made the best decision considering what was given to him.
you obviously didn't read his post in its entirety. he never said he wanted pj tucker to fill the rockets hole at power forward. he was merely implying that chuck hayes wouldn't be the most opportune player for us at the power forward position and we should actively be seeking some more help.
