The much-ballyhooed reunion of seminal alternative rock act the Pixies is getting off the ground. Beyond a previously announced May 1 appearance at the Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival in Indio, Calif., the group is now confirmed to open for the Red Hot Chili Peppers on June 15 at Paris' Parc Des Princes. The quartet has not played live together since disbanding in 1993. Sources have confirmed to Billboard.com that dates are being booked, and guitarist/vocalist Frank Black's unofficial Web site reports that the Pixies will first embark on a North American warm-up tour that will lead up to the Coachella appearance. A full-scale tour will follow, encompassing both North America and summer European festivals. From billboard.com... http://www.billboard.com/bb/daily/article_display.jsp? vnu_content_id=2082477
Wow. I just hope they don't tour with RHCP and the likes for too long. I'd rather just see them at Numbers or whatever. Can't wait.
I agree I would much rather seem them headline and not with some other band that I like a lot less. But it's been too long since I've seen them at all.
i was coming to post this exact thread. man i cant wait. sometimes you think a band like this you wont ever be able to see. but there is always a chance. at least more then seeing a band like the doors i guess.
...and Sonic Youth. Yeah, I'm a huge pixie fan. What a band. Awesome guitars. Stupid lyrics. Lyrics always end with a ? Driving beat. Make you groove yr head. Was supposed to see them in Nice on my honeymoon, but ... got... distracted. Merde. Maybe this will rock. Or not. I was all geared up for X on their reunion tour, but ... eh. They didn't want the glitter bombs some cool people had to toss at the ceiling. They couldn't appreciate the desire of the rest of us to celebrate. We wanted to rock, they wanted to roll. bleh. Ramones rocked. Till the bitter end. Rock on, Joey.
