i saw them a coachella couple weeks ago and they far exceeded my expectations. i knew they would be good, but damn they were great and black francis can still wail like a banshee. the pixies are my all time favorite band and basically the reason i started playing music myself. i never saw them back in the day cause they only came thru h-town on school nights and my parental units wouldnt let me go to shows on school nights. they opened w/ bone machine and ill be damned if a salty discharge didnt emit from my eyes - i was finally seening them! if you are a fan and never saw them back in the day than you must go. they are also playing the austin city limits festival this year.

buy them now - there is a limited quantity for $70 ($86 after fees) and than they will increase in price. in addition to the pixies trey from phish is playing (yawn) and calexico too - i cant remember who else i heard, but this year definately seems to be more rock-oriented than the last 2 festivals.
Thanks a million! I think the version of 'Nimrod's son' they played at that show was phenomenal. I got tickets for the Houston show- even though I live in New York. They don't have an announced show in New York yet (last time I checked), but once they announce one, I'll probably get tickets to it too.
The Pixies will be playing on Day 1 of Lollapalooza in Ventura CA. The general tickets are $25 and the reserve tickets are close to $50. Sonic Youth, will also be playing the same day. I plan on going to see them then. I saw them 3 times when they were originally together and could not get enough. I'm excited to have the opportunity to see them again.
