Via Yahoo sports twitter link i guess its a bit overpaying i still dont understand why dumars is destroying their cap space on gordon and charlie v additional non-twitter link here
Hmm, guess he was wrong on what he thought he could get on the open market. But congrats to him. Rip, you may be on the move.
He got a 20% raise. 6yr/$54 mil $9mil/yr 5yr/$54 mil $10.8 mil yr/ $1.8mil/$9 mil= 20% increase per year in salary.
True but in my eyes, he still got the same deal. But oh well, he was gonna get that money either with Chicago or Detroit.
11 mill a year for a scorer/shooter? 6-8 would be more logical for a guy like Gordon. Looks like Pistons just want more offense. Gordon can score but can't defend or pas; Villanueva can score but can't defend or rebound much. Not sure exactly what they're trying to do here.
Congrats to Gordon on finally (and luckily) getting his big payday. I don't like that figure from Detroit's end but I suppose they figure it's worth overpaying to get him out of Chicago.
Detroit's lineup next year is such a toss up. I doubt Gordon comes off the bench so Hamilton is gone.
He just pointed out it's 20% more!! But if you think that's the same deal... Tell you what - I'll give you $80 and you give me $100?
InsideHoopsThe AP, and Ken Berger (CBS), say the Detroit Pistons also have an agreement now with Charlie Villanueva Twitter.com Pretty good day for Detroit?
I don't understand moves like this at all. How does overpaying for Ben and Charlie improve their chances to make some serious noise next year in a Eastern Conference that won't be won by any team outside of Boston, Orlando, or Cleveland, three teams that have only gotten better. And how does a team like Toronto get better by offering Hedo $12 million a year for 5 years? Just seems like a waste of money and space for these struggling teams.
Wow, that's a lot for Gordon. It helps to have a good playoff series I guess. I think Detroit is blowing it by wasting their cap space on these two dudes......
Well, considering how badly things went with Rip Hamilton last season when they traded for Iverson, another undersized, heavy shooting 2, I would assume they plan on moving Rip at this point. If not, I don't get why they would give Gordon that much money.
I know, I get the concept but I mean one deal is a year longer while another gives you 1.8 mil more. Not to mention, you're probably not gonna contend with Detroit as Chicago is an upcoming team.
