The Trailer is now available on Yahoo movies. http://movies.yahoo.com/ The movie looks pretty good, I can't wait to see it.
The first Pirates is an awesome flick in the tradition of the Indiana Jones movies. Johnny Depp deserved an Oscar for it.
Since we're geeked out on movies, I have to say: Russell Crowe was awesome in "Master and Commander" but not even nominated; and I didn't care too much because Johnny Depp WAS nominated for Pirates. He made that movie a lot of fun. Sort of a fey, younger Keith Richards. And nominated, mind you, when the Disney execs wanted to shut him down during the filming of POTCarib, not liking his take on the character.
Is Richards still in the sequel? I thought I had read somewhere he was signed on to play Sparrow's father in this. Brightside: I saw the first movie expecting to hate it, and it blew me away. It's worth at least one viewing.
I have to chime in and agree. A great, fun movie. Not the kind of moving you'll be thinking about days later, but great fun escapism. Depp was at his best, Rush was as good as ever, Kiera is beautiful and was better than she has a right to be for a teenager, and Orlando appealed to the ladies without bringing the movie down. A great job by the bit players as well, a great story, and beautifully filmed. It will be next to impossible to make any sequels that are even half as good, and there is no need.......people will flock to the theaters based on how good the first one was. (I usually enjoy things better when I have lower expectations).
From IMDB.. Trivia: Rolling Stone Keith Richards was set to make a cameo appearance as the father of Captain Jack Sparrow but Richards had to pull out of the project due to his commitment with the Rolling Stones world tour.
