That is what Pipen said according to ESPN. Well he'll probably end up getting traded to the Wizards. ------------------ Arkansas' Biggest Rocket Fan!
To pass along a pithy quote from someone on another message board: "Pippen: Somebody had to pay him for all those rings in Chicago. Too bad it wasn't Chicago." ------------------
I really doubt it. Yes, MJ won with Quitten along side, but I am sure MJ also realize that Quitten isn't the same player anymore. He is not worth that mega contract which I believe runs for another 4 years. I think MJ is coming back for another 2 year at the max. What are they going to do with Pippen after those 2 years? Another factor I can see is that if MJ wants to play with Barkley, Barkley would not want Quitten to be on that team. I also believe MJ wants to prove that he can win without Zzz Master and/or Quitten.
Give Pip some tissue. ------------------ HEAD KNIGHT: We are now... no longer the Knights Who Say 'Ni'. KNIGHTS OF NI: Ni! Shh! HEAD KNIGHT: Shh! We are now the Knights Who Say 'Ecky- ecky- ecky- ecky- pikang- zoop- boing- goodem- zoo- owli- zhiv'.
You just had to go for the glory. You didn't want to work for another title. You wanted to be a part of an instant contender so that you could claim you carried them over the hump. You just had to take the easy way out. You weren't willing to grow with our young team. You wanted it all... now. No work involved. You thought you could just coast throught the regular season and then turn it up during the playoffs. Now look at you. Good luck finding some fool team that is willing to pay your salary. I know MJ will have no part of that. Don't expect Phil to do anything for you. They already have Kobe. Why would they need you? There always Chicago. The fans might still love you there. But if the Jerry's weren't willing to pay you before, why would they now? Don't feel bad for Scottie, because he chose his path. He could have been part of something big that's about to happen in Houston. Would Scottie have been a better fit than Walt? Had he not been a big spoiled baby, could he have made the Rockets a way more dangerous team at this point? Would we have been in the playoffs right now? Probably yes to all those questions. Who knows. ------------------
We tried to give him his due and he threw it back in our faces. Barkley didn't hurt this team while Pippen was here. Barkley saved that team from being worse. At least Charles tried. Pippen had no patience and thought he knew more about how to run this team than Rudy did. This city accepted Pippen and his monster salary with open arms. All he did in return was question Rudy, blow a playoff series and then turn around and blame Charles for the loss when it was Charles who was having a good series. Pippen has done nothing since that time to regain the respect that I had for him as a player. His numbers were worse in Portland than they were here in Houston. I'm sure he can find a way to blame Rudy for that, too. ------------------ [This message has been edited by SpaceCity (edited April 30, 2001).]
Let me tell you something, Pippen used to be one of my favorite players in the league. But over the last 2 years I have lost so much respect for the man it is amazing. Barkley averaged about 4 assist a game, and he was one of the greatest low post passers in history. He is one of only 3 players to have 20000+ points, 10000+ boards and 4000+ assist. You can have as much talent as you want, if you don't have heart it doesn't mean a thing. Pippen doesn't have heart. What would you rather have, the talent of the Blazers, or the heart of the Lakers? Sure the clock was winding down on Pippen's career, so instead of asking to be traded he ripped the team to the point he should be traded? I used to be a Pippen fan, and I give him his due, he is talented. But he doesn't have heart, he isn't a leader, and he is a cancer, and I'm not going to give him anymore credit then to say he is talented. And Barkley was a far better player for the Rockets then Pippen would ever be. ------------------ See the three, be the three.
I agree with a lot of comments made, but I don't agree about Barkley being an offensive black hole. Barkley was something like 2nd on the team in assists. He was very effective at drawing the double team while backing it in with his hefty rear and quickly bounce-passing it out to someone on the perimeter. I still feel that if he hadn't injured his elbow in that Game 6 against Utah, we would've made it to the Finals. He kept us in the game, and it all fell apart in the second half without him. Same with Game 7. He was anything but a liability offensively in that series. I agree that if Pippen had some patience, he could've been part of a team that could really have accomplished something. I agree hindsight is 20/20, and no one expected both Barkley and Dream to be ailing last season, but if Scottie had had enough vision to look down the road a couple years in the future, he would've seen the paradigm shift coming. While I think Scottie as a player would've been perfect for the team we have forming, I'm not sorry he left because the guy is all but a cancer. I'm so glad Portland self-destructed. Now if the Lakers can lose before the Finals... ------------------
"I wonder what it would have been like if we had had Pippen but not Barkley a couple of years ago. Barkley could board, yeah, but he was a black hole on offense and nothing to speak about on defense. Pippen is a well-rounded contributor." If by well rounded you mean an over-paid role player who can do nothing well, then yeah I agree he is well rounded. Next the guy is one of the worst leaders ever. Every other star in this league had teammates who would follow them and enjoyed being their teammates. Yeah Charles had some personality conflicts with teammates (Clyde & to some extent KJ) but all the guys knew they wanted to be on his team. Nobody has switched teams to play with Pip. When he was the man in Chicago he sat on the bench when Toni hit a clutch 3. When he came to us, he complained about the offense. He forced a trade to get us out of his salary, which is a good thing for us. Now in Portland he has a great big man (Wallace) who is out of control. A leader would be in his face. Pip insteads complains about Kobe faking injuries and no calls. Pip has as many rings as John Salley and about as many skills as Salley has. Pip is a crying lil *****. He looked great beside MJ, but face it everyone looked good next to him.

All I have to say (write) is: You wanted it, you got it! Couldn't have happened to a more deserving guy! ------------------
I meant the Wizards thing in a sarcastic way sarcastic. ------------------ Arkansas' Biggest Rocket Fan!
Yeah, but if we still had Pippen, we wouldn't have Cato-- ha ha! I wonder what it would have been like if we had had Pippen but not Barkley a couple of years ago. Barkley could board, yeah, but he was a black hole on offense and nothing to speak about on defense. Pippen is a well-rounded contributor. Pippen, in spite of his character flaws which I think are overblown, is a helluva player. Pippen was just forcing his way out of Houston because the clock was winding down on his career and the move to Houston was not panning out. He is an estimable NBA player still. We could use him now. I know nobody here likes him, but give the man his due. ------------------ Time is a great teacher-- only problem is it kills all its pupils. PowerbizOnline.com
