It appears that Scottie's lingering knee injury is forcing him to quit on the baby Bulls. It's like deja vu all over again. . .

You all may remember the first time Pippen announced his retirement, at the beginning of the lockout-shortened '99 NBA season. It was that season you recall, that Pippen announced his signing with the Houston Rockets and his subsequent "quittin" on the team, that of course signaled that Scottie, for all intents and purposes, has since been retired from that point in time. I can't believe this guy is going to get into the Hall.

I wasn't aware that this mattered. Maybe they should revoke the memberships of other warm and fuzzy guys like Russell, Abdul-Jabbar, Rick Barry, Larry Bird, etc.

well i don't hate pippen as much because i wasn't a rockets fan back when pippen played here.

    but interesting comparison.

    Antoine Walker.

Career highs of 49 points, 21 rebounds, 14 assists, 6 steals, and 4 blocks.

pippen never got the gaudy numbers, but had great defensive presence and sustained a level of high play for a long time.

But...Pippen was the proverbial 'Robin', only able to thrive as a second banana to some guy named Mikey.

he was the best small forward of his era.

no SF in the NBA is near the level of Pippen in his prime right now.

    # most overrated player ever
    # didn't accomplish anything without his airness
    # is a quitter that decides he doesn't want to play on a team because he doesn't get along with a couple of the players

PIPPEN is everything wrong with the NBA.

Do I really have to remind you guys (again) that Jordan accomplished even less without Pippen than Pippen accomplished without Jordan?

And yes, Pippen was an *******. So was Bill Russell. So was Michael Jordan. So was Kevin McHale. And you know what? That doesn't and shouldn't have much effect on whether they're Hall of Famers or not.

    Does KG play SF?

If not, Ill still go with Shawn Marion. If it was shawn and jordan... well lets just say, they would still be going strong.

    Or Peja.
    Or Dirk.
    Or Artest.
Don't underestimate Bowen. Or a healthy Mash.

First off, I didnt think he retired at all after Jordan retired for the second time. I thought he had every intention to still play.

Yeah, I'd like to see Marion run the Triangle.

Or, better yet, I'd like to see him try to dribble four times while running forward without dribbling the ball off his foot.

    Let it go, Rox fans.

Shawn Marion? Better than Pippen? With all due respect, could you please direct me toward some of whatever you're smoking? That must be gooooooood stuff.

    marion better than pippen.

Marion has the ugliest shot in the league and his shot is very streaky.

do any of these people bring everything pippen did?

peja -- good scorer, but where's the rebounding, steals, assists, and defense?

dirk -- more of a power forward. but okay, could you put him on the other team's SG to shut him down?

Bowen / Mash? not in the same league

Artest is pippen lite... does everything pippen did in him prime but not as well. pippen at his prime was 19-8-7 and shutdown D. he was a complete player.

again, i'm not a huge pippen fan. but in his era. which was the era before KG's emergence. he was the best SF by far.

Scottie Pippen was the ultimate 2nd star. He had good size at 6'7", long arms and endless hussle. He could bring the ball down court, find the open man, and hit the open shot. Plus he could lock down on the opposing player or wreak havoc with his helping defense.

The closest SFs out there right now to Pippen in terms of all around game are Artest and Posey, yet neither have achieved the level in which Pippen was at during his prime. That guy's game on the court is pretty much how any GM would build a player to play the SF spot. Props to him making it from a small college and working his butt off to become a star. Regardless of how he carried himself off the court or on the court w/ the Rockets, Pippen could flat out play and should be the mold for any SF in the NBA.

    This topic again.

Pippen was a great basketball player, you guys need to rise above being angry at him for playing like **** in a strike shortened season.

I do find it funny that the only thing he accomplised in Houston was getting a DWI.
