I miss me some pinball. The few tables you find in public places are in disrepair and tilt on a dime. My all-time favorite: Spoiler I could pop this sucker over and over again and play all day on one credit. Another one I really loved: Spoiler
I love pinball machines. I want to buy one for my gameroom. Maybe the Addams Family one or something.
This is what I'll be building when I get the scratch together. Cost of LCD TVs going down is good. This thing is a 3-screen virtual pinball machine- 46" lcd playfield, 32" lcd backglass and 17" monitor. Go to the youtuube page and look at the details for info on how to build one. <iframe src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/zRoYsv0qYmM" allowfullscreen="" frameborder="0" height="390" width="480"></iframe> I've got the 32 and 19s, I would just need a 46 for the playfield....hmm....I smell a project coming on...a totally hot project.
Never played much Pinball, but there were 2 games I loved: Spoiler and Spoiler I could/can play this forever on one credit. I was so pissed when I got to 999,999 points, and thought I had the new high score (the current high score was something like 999,920) and it reset back to 0! I'm not sure what pinball games I played, I did play my fair share though. Pugs
Wow, that looks badass. I used to play using virtual sims of the various tables a long time ago (7-8 years). Haven't been into it in a while but that looks great.
Man, I loved those games. I'm going to eventually build another MAME cabinet (I had one but lost it in Hurricane Ike)...When I do, I'm going to build a 4-player cab so I can play Gauntlet, TMNT, X-Men...all of those great 80s and 90s 4-player beat-em-ups.
Spoiler Student Prince machine When I was a kid, my parents bought a Pinball machine for our game room. It probably had the worst theme for any pinball machine ever made. It was called the "Student Prince", but it was fun to play. Sigmund Romberg's operetta The Student Prince was from a book based on a German play Old Heidelberg, a love story that centered in the German University town of Heidelberg. It opened on Broadway in 1924 and enjoyed immediate success, reopening there in 1931 after touring the country. The lyrics include 'The Drinking Song' which apparently is reflected in the backglass art. If you go to Vegas, check out the Pinball Hall of Fame.
I've resisted getting a pinball machine for my house due to the fact that they are apparently a pain to keep in working order and properly calibrated. I've read things that even if you just move them from one room to another you are supposed to re-calibrate them. There are a few trustworthy dealers in Houston, so I'll probably waste a bunch of money someday, but I don't want some random one, I'll be wanting a theme that I actually care about. Of course, if you just want to get some pinball action on, you can go to Joystix.
In 1982 or so, Six Million Dollar Man was awesome at the 7-11. Black Knight also. KISS pinball is good just because... but my favorite was later with PINBOT. I rocked that machine in Dobie Mall back in 1986-87.
I stunk at pinball. Reflexes too slow. If I had the space at my home and spare cash... here's the machine I'd get:
I owned that one- picked it up for $100 at a garage sale. Alas, I left it at a rental house I had to bail on quick when I was much younger. Great pinball game. I liked the newer 90's games because there were so many ramps and cool targets, plus the LED interface gave you so much more to do.
When I was a kid, I was playing a Playboy pinball machine at my local 7-Eleven. There was this hot girl with a nice rack who got caught up watching me play. I think I "popped" the machine for extra credits a few times. I was playing really well that day. She was bouncing up and down cheering me on. It was fun that day. I'd personally love to own one of those new "Rush" pinball machines but not wanting to lay down $7k - $8k for one.
I have one of the Arcade1up video pinball cabinets. For the price, it's very good. It's pretty small but once you start playing, you don't notice the size difference.
