so he is in a shooting slump, he's had better games than boki,i say why not play em both at differnt times or games?
I don't think Van Gundy wants to risk him bricking shots during a close game. I'd at least put him in during blowout wins or losses. This guy needs to get his shot back. He will be a big factor especially if Mobley or JJ are bricking shots in a game.
I agree. Pike has been the biggest surprise for me thus far. I was so excited when he got him. I thought both him and Jackson would fit in brilliantly. I think the injury has alot to do with his shooting slump. If he shoots himself out of it, I think it would be a great boost to our team. Then again, I'm not against giving Boki some playing time.
Boki has played better than Pike, and JVG has seen fit to dump him for Spoon. JVG has certain types of players that he likes... and if you're not one of them, the minutes aren't going to come easily.
It is just a matter of time that Pike joins the party. When he does I am sorry for the opposition. Also, I would hate for Pike to get minutes at the expense of someone having to sit. It is about time that JVG lengthen the damn rotation. 1. Ming 2. Cato 3. JJ 4. SF 5. Mobes 6. Taylor 7. Padgett/Spoon 8. Boki 9. Pike 10. MJ Pike and MJ will allow the reduction in Mobes, SF and JJ's mins and justifiably so.
Pike, padgett, and Boki are all in contention for regular rotation minutes. Boki still looks lost out there to me, and this team can't afford to give him meaningful minutes right now while we're fighting to stay in the playoff mix. I like when Padgett plays. He can be a little passive, but he hustles and does a good job moving the ball around. Plus, he's shown that he can knock down a jumper. Pike is the guy I'd like to see in there because he's the most potent shooter we have, but he needs to get his shot back. His defense is pretty shoddy, but in the long run (rest of the season), it'll be important to have him as a sharpshooter off the bench.
Maybe Van Gundy is showcasing Boki for inclusion in a trade. Our core is quality, but I don't think Boki's part of it.
So when it comes time for the expansion draft and it came down to Boki or Pike, who would be protected?
as we saw today against the magic, boki is back on the rotation, he did good, and if anyone read the article on the chronicle were pike was saying that the rockets need him really bad, that sounds too arogant, and we don't need that, you can read it for your self on the rockets website, there is a link to the chronicle it says something about the defense, go there and on the bottom you'll see it, my point is, the rockets are fine with boki, from what I've read, boki is one of Yao's best friends on the team, so hopefully that can count in his favor, but who knows, just look at moochie, anyways, I would rather see boki play than Pike, he sounds too arrogant, and that kind of attitude can disturbe a team's chemistry.
I think Boki is a better defender, a better ball handler, and cuts to the basket better, as well as making good dishes now and then. As far as shooting, well, do either of them shoot very often to begin with? Neither of them are called upon to score a lot, but Pike needs to hit open shots while he is in, or he is no better than Boki. Boki is younger and has more potential, so if the Rockets want to keep Boki, then for Pike to get minutes, he needs to shoot a lot better than he has.
Boki has the young legs and the hustle factor going for him...whereas Pike is a little slower..and his defense isnt as good as Boki's. Neither one is asked to shoot a lot...but when they are...that is about all that Pike brings to the court. When was the last time you saw Pike go to the rack like Boki does? It is just a matter of time before Boki gets his shot falling..until then, he does provide other aspects to keep himself in the rotation.
Boki looks lost? He's not getting burned on defense, and he seems to be playing better on O... though he desperately needs to get in a rhythm on O. I've been really, really pleased with his cameos of late.
yup. he seems like he always wants to drive to the basket. sometimes he should just shoot the outside shot. we know he has it.
And if he hit it, that'd make him an even better entry passer. For solid, plain vanilla entry passes... Boki's actually the best on the team. He always puts it where Yao needs it, where he can handle it, but away from the defender. If nothing else, that's a good reason for him to get minutes.
Why is Pike in Van Gundy's doghouse? Why hasn't Van Gundy been playing him? Can anyone answer this legitimately?
