    Some more pics:

Three-toed Sloth - Another challenging picture as my camera wanted to expose for the sky but at least the sloth gave me time to compensate. The sky is obviously blown out!

    White Hawk

Spider Monkey - We spend a week with guides taking us out into the rain forest to see monkeys and the best shot I get is from the car on our way back to San Jose!

Another Spider Monkey - Again from our car in the same tree as the one above.

Camera was a Canon S5 IS which is my "travel camera" because of its size and great zoom.

Because they can "walk" on water.

    From Wikipedia :

"Along with the Common Basilisk they have the nickname "Jesus Lizard" because when fleeing from a predator, they are very fast and can even run on top of the water. Basilisks actually have large hind feet with flaps of skin between each toe. The fact that they move quickly across the water, aided by their web-like feet, gives them the appearance of "walking on water". Smaller basilisks can run about 10-20 meters on the water without sinking. Young basilisks can usually run farther than older ones. If the animal faces danger, it starts to run very fast on the surface of a river or a lake. Then the flaps on its hind feet are opened and thus more surface area is provided for it to run on water."

We stayed at three different places. Most of the shots were taken in Tortuguero where we stayed at the Mawamba Lodge. The Sloth and White Hawk were when we were in the Arenal region. There we stayed at a place called Silencio del Campo. Finally we ended up in Monteverde where we stayed at a place called Montana Monteverde. The Howler Monkey pics were taken on the drive back from Monteverde to San Jose.

Regarding the camera, it was not a DSLR. I have a travel camera that I use because the my EOS350 is just too big and expensive to bring into such a wet and rainy area. Plus, a good telephoto lens for a dSLR would be very big and very expensive. The Canon S5 IS that I used gets the 35mm equivalent of 432 mm which is what you need when trying to capture animals. I have some Toucan photos that aren't great but at least you can tell they are Toucans because I could zoom into them from very far away.

    Are you kidding me?

You went on a trip to Costa Rica and all you did was take pictures of things from nature? Are you a tree-hugger? Who do you work for? PETA?

I thought I was going to be bombarded with pictures of hot brazilian cans and boobs. I want my boobs.

Nice pictures :). There's something to be said about photography from different places. I've got an eye on a digital camera or two that I want, possibly for shameless self-photography, but we shall see.

Awesome pics and I must say you have some pretty big stones. You couldn't pay me to go into the jungle of some foreign country. I'd be too terrified of getting eaten by something. :)

111chase111, GREAT photos; thanks for posting.

    Re: your sky/tree photo
Sometimes, I find that I have to play with the APERTURE mode on my camera to get a good shot against a BRIGHT background. I practice without the subjects being there first so I know how to shoot a photo like that beforehand.

dumbartonbass, that's exactly what I thought even before opening the thread. :)
Dude. That's what's in Costa Rica... "let the boy get down" with his photos of nature. Darn it, only PETA peeps can like animals, or what?

    ALSO, GEOGRAPHY FAIL.

    Costa Rica != Brazil :D

Regarding chicks.... We were mostly in eco-tour kind of places so the only chicks were other tourists who were generally older with families. We met a lot of Dutch and some Spanish people (one Spanish girl was cute) and some people from Colorado and California.

Prostitution is legal in Costa Rica, btw. Also, what kind of failure expects Brazilian babes in Central America? You're on this board so you clearly have Internet access yet you come to Clutch Fans for girly pictures??????? You have the Internet.

I don't watch the Office enough to get the photo. Anyone care to fill me in?
