I never got how those things worked... wouldn't a shot to the face still have a significant impact on the face and do some damage?
no they r made of steel and optical shock absorbers that transfers shock impact to the neck thereby lessening the blow
with that mask, without knowing who it was and without seeing the jersey colors, i wouldn't recognize that picture as lebron. looks more like..
I can't believe some marketing department went so far as to do something like this to promote the new 'Phantom of the OPera' movie in theatres. Geez!
I never understood why they dont have lots of tiny little holes so it would be more cool for the player...
why don't the players get creative with their masks? like paint a third eye right in the middle of the forehead area. that would make no-look passes a lot easier. hell if it were t-mac, you'd have a 1 in 3 chance of guessing correctly which way the pass is going.
moomoo maybe we can get an optometrist to make TMac pirate eye patches for the rest of the team. then no-one would know where our team was going to pass the ball.... maybe not even our team. Hey we've tried that one before!
Any of you guys remember five or six years ago, when two or three guys on the spurs were wearing protective masks, and they were solid colors? I think some of them were even silver (team color.) That was Phantom of the Opera, big time.
What I want to know is why is Rip still wearing his? Wasn't he wearing it last year as well? It seems like his injury has had plenty of time to heal. Maybe you just get used to it. Pugs
Sorta like Hakeem taping one of his fingers (think it was his middle finger and ring finger together). I think they get used to it. I was wondering the same thing about Rip.
I thought Rip had two really bad face injuries fairly close together, and he's wearing the mask as a precaution.
You break your nose once, it'll heal. You break your nose twice, you start worrying about a third time.
"Conventional wisdom would dictate that a player would want to at least test the mask before the game, but James isn't conventional. Perhaps it was a little vanity. Sunday, he refused to be interviewed on camera, because he was self-conscious about his slightly swollen face. Whatever, James went out and made 11-of-19 shots for 26 points with eight rebounds and six assists Monday. And each time he left the game, he removed the mask and hurled it to Cavaliers trainer Max Benton, not wanting to wear it for a second longer than he had to."
