Canon 2.8 24-70 L, huh? You have a press pass to be able to take these photos... don't you? Also, if you're shooting with a Mark anything, I officially hate you, sir. BEAUTIFUL pictures. Muy buenas fotos.
Dude.. she's still hot! Thank you kindly! I don't have a pass that gets me into every show, I shoot on assignment, so I get photo passes for shows I am asked to shoot. Yes, I have a classic 5D and a 5D Mark II.... so hate away!! LOL!! Thanks for your comments!
Thanks! Hell of a show! I loved all the openers too! Nope, sorry, was not assigned that show, although I would've loved to have shot it. You are very correct, that was no Steve Perry.
How bright is it in those places? How are you getting those shots at f4.0 and only 1/320 shutter speed?
Yes, I did get some shots of them, not sure if I got the drummer since the lighting was very, very dim for the opener. I have some pics on flickr and will have more on my blog soon. Very bright in some instances. Shows at Toyota Center, The Woodlands and House of Blues tend to be very, very well lit. Big touring shows always have excellent lighting. It's the smaller venues like Warehouse Live and Fitzgeralds that are difficult to shoot in, even with f/2.8 lenses. I'm getting those shots at those speeds and settings because of the availability of spots and stage lights. I am most happy when a show is well lit. It just makes for better photos. Def Leppard, was by far, one of the best lit touring shows I've shot this year.
LOL!! Because if he wasn't black and white he'd be red. I shot Gary Clark, Jr. at Discovery Green here in Houston. They weren't running the lights, the lights were just on and the lights that were on were red and orange. Those lights don't exactly complement the subject. If I hadn't converted this image to black and white, he would've been red, it's just not a good look for anyone.
