At the main square in Benghazi, people have been gathering to celebrate the end of the rule of Muammar Qaddafi. As euphoric Libyan rebels advanced into Tripoli on Sunday, there were scenes of jubilation in the rebels’ de facto capital, Benghazi, where thousands celebrated in the streets. One large sign in the middle of the square in Benghazi features a picture of the “Fantastic 4” (from right to left): Obama, French President Nicolas Sarkozy, British Prime Minister David Cameron, and U.S. Ambassador the U.N. Susan Rice. The text on the sign reads: “God Bless You All. Thanks For All.” The signs were photographed by the AP’s Alexandre Meneghini:

dunno why the photo's posted twice. I can't edit it :(

P.S. Obama is one of the baddest democratic presidents in United States history. This is what Commander In Chief is suppose to be all about...

    LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!

    He's never serious.

It's weird. Last time I was paying attention, it looked like the rebels couldn't do anything right. Now, all of a sudden, they've won.

You know Obama has to happy about this. This had the potential to be a re-election liability, but the victory is another feather in his cap. Makes it that much harder to paint him as soft on foreign policy.

Do not get too attached to one picture.

Propaganda should work harder than this.

Nice to see this even though it's only temporary euphoria.

Been logging into my email on yahoo and there has been a bunch of Libyan rebels this and that news stories. Am I suppose to be interested, rooting for them or rooting for somebody in this? I was under the impression that Gaddafi was the no-games, butt-kicking dictator of the North Africas. Wasn't this guy like a hero through-out Libya and Egypt for the past 3 decades?

I was also thinking about this. And strangely, the turning point seemed to have coincided with them killing that former minister that supposedly still secretly had ties to Gaddafi .

Why are you so quick to make the same (wrong, uninformed) argument in two threads?

Sharia, the big bogeyman. I'll give a democracy the benefit of the doubt until they give us cause.

    1) Not funny.
    2) Repetitive.
    3) Apparently, you would be fine with Article 1 of the U.S. constitution stating Christianity is the Religion of the State, and the principal source of legislation is the Bible (as the USA are a majority Christian country)? Interesting.
