    Phony Soldiers and Phony Senators
    By John E. O'Neill

To the left:...It's not the message, it's your often exhibited fakeness that bothers me...(ROXRAN)

Recently, at least 41 Democratic Senators, joined by a howling mob including George Soros’ Media Matters, sought to silence Rush Limbaugh because of his reference to “phony” anti war soldiers.

Limbaugh’s comments, taken in context, referred to Jesse Macbeth, a confessed and convicted phony, whose faked but graphic war crimes confessions received far wider media notice than his later confession.

He had been discharged in boot camp after 40 days of service.

Macbeth follows a grand tradition of fake soldiers whose “war crimes” confessions have been used by the Left to slander the service of our troops.

For example, Micah Ian Wright, author of the 2003 anti war best seller "You Back the Attack," was an Army Ranger and Combat veteran feted at USC’s Annenberg School and in media like the Washington Post until he was finally “outed” as a complete fake.

Many similar examples of phony “soldiers” used by the Left for war crimes confessions are documented in B.G. Burkett’s bestseller Stolen Valor.

Indeed, the problem was so endemic that a Republican Congress in 2005, at the urging of many veterans, passed “The Stolen Valor Act” finally criminalizing activities such as those of Macbeth!

There is no one more injured by phony war crimes charges lodged by phony veterans than veterans themselves whose service is dishonored by the slander. I know. In 1971, in addition to listening to John Kerry from our unit falsely compare our forces in Viet Nam to “the Army of Jhengiz Khan,” I heard Al Hubbard, the president of Kerry’s VVAW, appearing with Kerry in forums such as Meet the Press and Congress confess to war crimes such as bombing innocent villages.

Hubbard was an Air Force pilot, who appeared on national television wearing the Distinguished Flying Cross and many other medals while confessing our guilt in Viet Nam. Except he was none of these things, having left the Air Force as a Sergeant, never serving in Viet Nam at all!

Military personnel all over the world thank God for Rush Limbaugh’s stout defense of our military from these fakes.

In 1971, there was no one to defend us from the John Kerrys and the Al Hubbards. Indeed, it is the U.S. Senate that is a Potemkin Village. It is a body whose failure to condemn Hubbard’s and Kerry’s 1971 libels is deafening. It is also a place on whose floor active duty soldiers have been compared to the assassins of the Khmer Rouge (Senator Deck Durbin); people who terrorize women and children (Senator Kerry); and (in close proximity) cold blooded murderers (Rep. John Murtha).

Hypocrisy and cowardice are terms too kind for those who demean our soldiers without regard to the consequences to them.

This conduct when coupled with the effort to silence Limbaugh a stout defender of the troops, can be best described with two words: What phonies.

Ah yes the war supporters are ready to question soldiers from 35 years ago, because one of their own has gone around trashing soldiers serving in IRaq today.

exactly. Looking at the context he was saying exactly what he was accused of. He did try and go back and edit the 's' off of the transcript but it was there for everyone to hear.

You come to my house and break in, I'll show you what a fight is...

I am a civilian and choose to be, and choose to support the legitimacy of our soldiers and I choose NOT to degrade, falsify, villify, or misrepresent that or the U.S. soldiers...

Unlike those that falsely assimilates themselves towards the military for the interests of the left...I appreciate the indignation they show...at least that is honest.

The article indeed exhibits the recurring theme of over 35 years of exposed farce...

Mr. O'Neill has just indicated that he aknowledges that Mr. Limbaugh's position is what the liberals say it is. Kerry was a serving officer who did his time in Vietnam and then came home and spoke against the war. This is an undeniable fact.

Exactly what Mr. Limbaugh denies that he said, and exactly what all of those 'fake liberals' are saying he said. Rather than come to Mr. Limbaugh's defense, Mr. O'Neill has just lumped himself in with the people who think political viewpoints turn real americans who served into 'Fake Soldiers'.

I spit on both of them.

The point is the existance of such is a recurring theme (as it was for 35 years) is the latent attachment towards the political left,...that with the revolting nature of the farce is sickening...

defending Rush is an insult to vets like the one who received the brain injury fighting in Iraq and speaks out against the war. The one that Rush compared to a suicide bomber which is how the vet received the wound.

It is an insult to those who Rush called phony soldiers who wrote the editorial but died and gave their lives in Iraq. That is who Rush referred to as phony soldiers, and to defend that is certainly no favor to Iraq war soldiers.

Of course John Kerry who is one of the targets wasn't a phony soldier but real one who was awarded for bravery, and received numerous medals for his heroics.

I think there's been enough challenging each other to appear in person lately.
I don't think I understand what you are saying here. Are you saying that some people join the military just so they can represent leftist political interests and that you appreciate that they get indignant?

These "targets" are lumped in because it has been a proven fact of the farce....Kerry is included in the slime pot because so many brave, and real soldiers have refuted his claims...Somebody is lying and based on the rest of the pot's track record, Kerry belongs where his bretheren stink it up...

His claims about the atrocities in the war? Even if what he said before congress was totally wrong, it doesn't take away his service during the war.

That was not refuted by anybody. The Swiftboat vets tried and one of their members later admitted his affidavit was a huge and horrible mistake. The official records of the navy backed up John Kerry's medals, and citations. Even the original statements by the few swifties that were around Kerry at the time backed up the official naval statements in Kerry's favor. They only changed their tune after they didn't like what Kerry said before congress.

I appreciate that the latent indignation by these ivdividuals are real and have come to light,...BUT:

It bothers me that there has been a recurring theme of proven farce for the last 35 years against the military.

It bothers me that there is a politicalized nature of this,...and this is demonstrated if you think not, when Rush laments a phoney for being a phoney...and gets the political charged mob from the left (such as the 41 demo. senators)...

I am not trying to pin the tail on the donkey of these farce players being a left leaning political machine, but when you have a republican voice who calls a spade exactly what it is, AND,...the charge of attack of 41 demo. senators among others is centered on the caller...

    Something is loathesome about that...sorry.

You are saying you agree with Rush that soldiers who serve in IRaq and voice their opposition to the war are phony soldiers?

Soldiers who had shrapnel enter their head and give them a brain injury? Soldiers who gave the ultimate sacrifice of their lives?

If you listened to Rush his comments were about any soldiers serving in Iraq who spoke out against the war.

It was a a rotten thing to say about soldiers who made such sacrifices and also exercised their American freedoms.

Anyone who defends it doesn't have a leg to stand on.
