Booker is good, KD is good, but Beal not being healthy is not good since that team is top heavy. Dec 16, out for ankle injury. Sun's defense has been mid, despite being a Vogel team. Even with their top 2.5 stars, it's not entirely clear their defense will improve. --- On Eric Gordon, while some NBA fans might eye roll on touches since their other stars are ball dominant. It's Gordon's contract year, he has to ask for shot attempts, even if it comes off as 'selfish', since some GMs do look factor in accounting stats. I can see Gordon walking away from Suns, unless Suns feed him (shots) or pay him. With Sun's payroll, they may have problems finding more useful vets at that pay scale.
They don't have good defenders. Their center is Nurkic who is bad defensively and this Eubanks dude who is like a poor man's Jock Landale. For some reason Yuta Watanabe is getting DNP CDs when a 3nd spacer like him is exactly what they need.
Yuta's been injury hobbled all year, then sucked when he's played. Played himself out the rotation. But I agree they need more outside scoring. Suns are middle of the pack to low in everything. In 3 point attempts & 3pt%, PPG, efficiency. They dont do anything well as a team on offense. And not enough D to compensate. Another dynamic player like healthy Beal would help. But they're one of the older teams needing depth and fresh defensive legs too
I think he is a mediocre player but the fact that he is a PG and the Suns have literally Zero PGs makes him better than he really is. The Hawks made Korver an All Star whereas he never saw big minutes with most of his teams. (one of the worst AS)
He'll be very important to them then. A trade of Beal for Simmons, Schroder, and Finney-Smith would make things interesting for the Suns. They'd get depth at guard and wing and get rid of Beal's contract and redundancy. Simmons wouldn't even have to play.
Damn and I thought shooting (41% from three) and passing (7+ assists) was at premium in this league. He looked legit running Memphis when Ja was out too. Maybe he really wanted to be in Phoenix.
FA money dried up on teams that had a starting PG opening. Showcase your talents/worth on a good team and then get paid in 2025. The Suns have had a good offseason. I'm not sure how much longer they can keep it up and they have a HUGE tax bill coming but it just might pay off.
