Brooks injury has created something that I am sure all fans and even Daryl Morey wanted to settle. Who will end up the long term starting PG for the rockets?

    1. Brooks is in a contract year, and all signs points to him wanting to get paid.

    2. Lowry signed a pretty hefty contract over the summer.

    3. Ish has a two year contract, and will enter restricted free agency after that.

    Here are the possibilities

    A) Lowry will start when he comes back, and Ish will get a chance to back him up, if they play well enough by the time Aaron is ready to return that it becomes clear Lowry can handle the PG full time, then Brooks will get dealt. Think Rafer injury in 2008 when Brooks took over and then rafer got dealt.

    B) Lowry continues to have injury problems and Ish starts, and he proves capable of taking the PG spot full time, then one of Lowry or Brooks will get traded.

    C) Lowry starts and does not do as good of a job as Brooks, Brooks returns and takes the Starting PG position back. Most likely Lowry will get dealt because Ish wil back up brooks and there is no way that Morey will extend Brooks and keep Lowry, way too much money tied up in two non-All star players.

So in conclusion, I think this injury has meant that one of our PGs in Brooks or Lowry will be traded this season or this summer. This is the chance for Lowry to claim that starting PG spot, if he doesn't do it, then he will get traded because Brooks will get that big extension and Ish can take over the backup spot.

I'm ok dealing Lowry, he's overpaid and he's not happy being second to AB.

I bet Brooks comes back early. But I wanna see what Lowry can do as the starter. Brooks probably will try his best to get back ASAP .

No way his agent lets him do that, Ankle spain is really serious for someone like Brooks who relies on his speed, if he comes back early and is not 100%, he will get lowballed on his contract, no way his agent lets him do that.

If anything he would take longer to make sure he is 100%

Kyle is a BYC. How does that work in trading him? Can he be traded this year?
I'm sure there would be interest from the Bobcats and Cavs. Maybe even Toronto, Blazers and Wolves.

This is the beginning of finding out how the PG situation is gonna shake out.

    Smith looks impressive.

    Lowry wants to start.

Brooks is playing for a contract.

And Lee can take the reigns as well.

Morey has many tradable pieces, hello!!! Make a move...

IMO, Lowery starts and Ish Smith backsup. Brooks gets moved with fillers. Maybe a big, Shane or bud and picks.

Shouldn't be a problem with cavs, toronto, they have trade exceptions, wolves have space, bobcats don't have anything we need.

Count me on Lowry's side. I hope he shows the Rockets what he's capable of and generates the kind of chemistry with the starting staff he never could with the backups due to their offensive deficiencies (Chase Budinger is really the only player he regularly had time with who could finish, him and Brooks when they were paired in the backcourt).

Lowry's toughness and grit are just the sort of things that have given the Rockets their identity this past decade. I know he can do it.

If Ish plays really well, I think you move Brooks. Someone will want him....

Or maybe Brooks leaves and Lowry becomes a starter, as he is already getting starter money.

If Lowry proves that he really has developed into somewhat of a 3pt threat, then I am okay with letting him take the reigns.

Lowry isn't going anywhere. Brooks will be dealt at the trade deadline.

Which will make Lowry more workable as trade piece for a team in need of a PG and that has a player they know they can't keep or want to.

Truthfully, as long as Smith doesn't suck, it would probably be a 50-50 between Lowry or Brooks. Unless Brooks shows some of what made him great last year. But I still don't buy the idea of Lowry being a better starter, only because from what I have seen the idea of him being a "pass first" PG is overrated and offensively he has less options to score then Rafer.

You need to trade 2 of them to make room for Rafer Alston.

No one will be traded, this team is what it is.......and we need all 3 PGs to have any chance to win.

    (1) I like to start Smith
    (2) Lowry to backup
    (3) Trade Brooks

I bet after one year, Smith will be a play like Rajon Rondo.

    1. Don't trade Brooks or Lowry this year. You can't have too much depth at PG and C.
    2. If you deem Ish to be rotation worthy at the end of this season, then consider trading Brooks in a sign and trade in the offseason. I doubt Morey wants to handcuff the Rockets financially by signing both Yao and AB when he has Ish as an option.

Brooks/Martin = worst defensive backcourt in the NBA.

Rather have defense/playmakers than shooting when you have two wings that can shoot as well as a PF. JMO.
