PG, making a decision now or later?

Yes, many of us are rushing to dismantle the Stevie/Mobes backcourt, but is it better to do it now or later?

Later you may argue, might mean they have time to jell and work in the JVG system. Well, I vote sooner rather than later...last year showed how well these guys fit and its continuing this season also.

Well, I'll go back to some early assertions, we need talent and players who know their roles. Steve just looks like a natural SG. He's such an explosive scorer, but seems trapped by trying to mimic a PG's mentality. It was interesting to watch Lebron James in his first game, he showed very natural PG instincts. Steve shows flashes, but nothing on a consistent basis.

As far as Moochie, he just looks like he is straining terribly not to screw up! He looked awful, against the pressure.

There might be a couple of options out there for us...

Jamaal Tinsley (IND) is in the coaches dog house. He has PG skills and might be the right partner for Steve.

Bobby Jackson (SAC) deserves a chance to start and would be exciting to pair with Steve...doubt we could pry him lose.

Dallas PG trio: Nash slowing? Best or Delk? I'd love Steve Nash, but realize this is pure fantasy, unless Nellie thought Cato might give him some defense and toughness in the middle.

Brent Barry (SEA): Although not a natural point either, he could handle the job. Antonio Daniels is also rotting on their bench.

Old guys: Mark Jackson, Tim Hardaway, Rod Strickland or Avery Johnson. Not sure any of these guys (except Johnson) are in playing shape or would give it a try. Jackson might make a great back-up if he can still play.

While I like Mobes ability to score and good defense, I'm thinking he might be move valuable if we could trade him for a good PG.

JVG needs to make playoffs, so Steve will be our point guard for one or two more years. Once Yao becomes a true leader, all Rox needs is a true point guard who can pass and defend.

I say it here: As long as Steve be our point guard, the Rockets is doomed. He is a great talent and extremely fun to watch, but not a point guard in a Championship team.

    P.S. I love Steve. :)

Agree almost! We'll make the play-offs, but we won't go very far unless we have a very big change in how we play together.

I think Steve and Yao are certainly capable of becoming the greatest one-two punch ever.

Steve isnt the point guard now. Ming is. What we need are high % shooters. Not really passers only. Whats the point of having a pass first guy like Tinsley who when Ming is doubled cant hit the open J ? This team is going nowhere because of all the confusion amung the players. Possibly Cd or JVg fault. We also need smart passers. CAt and Steve and Moochie are the problem, but bringing in a pass first Pg wont help. We need excellent shooters at the 1-4 positions.

Sweetie - That's exactly why we need a natural PG. We have shooters once Pike comes back. Between him, JJ and MoT we have some decent outside shooters.
