Last 5 years he has been the best.

Megatron has been the best over the last 3 years, but Dre was quite a bit better in 08-09

Close though, we don't look for receivers in the red zone so it hurts Dre's TD number.

Very debatable. According to PFF he was 3rd, 1st, 2nd. Andre was 1st, unranked (ham injury), then 1st. So you tell me. Andre was 9th in the whole league of rankings (Watt first, what a stud) last year. Andre was so ridiculously efficient when he was thrown to, and he still had 1600 yards receiving, but the Texans just do not rely on a pass-heavy offence like the Lions.

The TD numbers still baffle me. He looks like the prototypical red zone WR, big, strong, smart route runner. Why the Texans have been unable to score well in the RZ without Foster being elite has always been a myth to me.

I just feel like Kubiak doesn't trust those fade routes in the red-zone. It works for players like Fitz, but not many QB's will consistently be able to make that throw, and if its under thrown then it will likely be intercepted (and lets be honest, Schaub has been known to under throw some passes).

While it may hurt Andre's stats (something he's never really cared about) it's much more efficient and far less risky to either pound it with Foster or try a short pass to a tight end or slot receiver rather than slinging it out wide.

If Andre Johnson really had a good QB history with the Texans, just think of what couldve been. Imagine pairing this man with a HOF like Manning or Brady... He really couldve been one of the all time greats...His career sadly was masked by having to play in the shadow of one David Carr and Matt Schaub. I really would love to see him get a ring...he deserves it...

It's funny how many different ways people throw daggers at Schaub - isn't there a large contingent that believes he doesn't have eyes for any WR not wearing #80?

Andre Johnson ranks among the league leaders in receptions, yards and attempts each and every year. I'm at a loss - other than possibly TDs (and frankly, AJ has to shoulder some of that blame, IMO) - how an appreciably better QB would have increased already great numbers.

Foster is a super-elite red zone RB. He leads all RBs with 41 rushing TDs since 2010, and all RB/WR/TEs with 47 total TDs. There could be a touch of trust, risk, Schaub, AJ figuring into his philosophy... but I really think it comes down to Kubiak riding one of the NFL's greatest scoring RBs.

it's not a trust issue or the "noodle" arm of our 1 yard thrower matt schaub. Just look back at the denver offense when they had a qb that could throw for 50 tds in his sleep if he wanted with the receivers he had. but nope, mike had a different way. Once Elway drove all the way to the red zone it was T.D time, as in terrell davis.

It has nothing to do with "throwing daggers at Schaub" but more about how excellent AJ80 was without having a primetime, big arm QB or a HOF QB...Andre Johnson has had a remarkable career minus the titles...

I don't think Andre would be particularly good at the fade personally. He is a great receiver, but he is not the insane hands type receiver that Calvin or Fitz are. He doesn't just go up and grab the ball no matter what. Those guys are like gravity forces for the football and Andre has never been that.

I've always kind of felt this way too, but then I think back and almost every year there is at least one or two (or more, sometimes) amazing plays where Andre goes up in a crowd and literally rips the ball away from everyone gunning for it. He may not have great hands in the Fitzgerald sense of seemingly having stickum covering every square inch, but the dude has ups and has STRONG hands so when he goes up and gets to the ball at its apex, he typically comes away with it.
