Like that the article made a good point about previous Most Improved Player winners going downhill and here are few more Ike Austin Gheorghe Muresan Dana Barros Don MacLean (wasnt he a Rocket for a brief moment?) Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf Good point there, but u can argue other great MIP like Jermaine, McGrady, Arenas, Kevin Johnson, etc...
Randolph winning Most Improved is unique in that he is a young player who is developing his talent. The guys who won the award then fell off are guys who found a niche somewhere and exploited it. I see him continuing to improve. He doesn't look like a bust. That being said, I don't see us having much of a shot to aquire him or Shareef.
That's a good line and all but are you serious? I wouldn't move Steve for Sar, but if the package of Mobley and change was possible, I'd think long and hard about it. Shareef's contract is up next year, so even if it didn't work out, we wouldn't be saddled with a long-term max contract.
I would trade Cato for SAR in a heartbeat. True, SAR is not the franchise player everyone thought he would be. I dont think anyone ranks SAR really high on their list, so therefore he is not overrated. The guy as a third or fourth option would be deadly. Even as a second option he would be awesome. I would want to play him at small forward instead of the four though. The only thing that would prevent me trading for him is the number of years remaining on his contract. He is way over paid at $14million, but nowadays you basically have to overpay.
Not really, I wouldn't have really said it if it wasn't a good line. SAR is certainly better than Cato, but I'm not sure if he as a "piece" is any more fit than Mobley, Francis, and the rest. But since his contract is up next year, I think the blazers will want something good in return for him, probaly better than we can offer.
Sar is a foundamentally very sound player. He's can score, rebound, pass. Maybe he's not mentally strong, not high in experts' judgement. But he never got the chance to play with a winning team. I guess it just wears you down both mentally and physically. Yes, his pay is ridiculous, but only one year left. Maybe he can pick up his confidence here, and then he will be hell of a player.
Yeah i will have to agree, i don't think he is all that. He is overatted becuase he was the only good player on his team other than the exception of Jason Terry. He got built up big time early in his career cause there was no one on his team that could do anything. He would be a good compliment in a team that doesn't need a star, but i believe he isgood to have as a 2nd or 3rd option on a team.
Rebound????? When? During garbage time? Can he even defend Clutch? Sure he can hit a jump shot. But what about stopping somebody and playing gritty during crunch time? I don't see it with him. Another skinny, finesse power forward.
The guy actually averages 7.5 rebounds a game this past year. He has always been pretty good at rebounding for his size. He has averaged about 8.2 rebounds a game for his carreer and a lot of that he was over 9 rebounds a game. i wouldn't mind having him in the game for the Rockets as a PF. He is not a star on his own but is a good role player.
i like SAR very very much after watching him for many years at Vancouver. The good things about him: - he will defer to Yao/Steve and doesn't whine about not being the man. - he can rebound. - he'd be a very potent 3rd option scorer. - he has good post moves around the basket. I can still remember the spin move and 2-handed jam which he put on Barkley. I doubt that he fits the rockets because: - he's weak at man-to-man defense. - he doesn't block shot. - he doesn't shoot well from 3-pt land if he plays the 3. - he tends to turn the ball over. But I'd still be excited if there's a possibility that we can get him though.
I am sure SAR will find his way to Seattle. Seattle needs a low post player in the worst way and has a lot of guards on the roster. Portland has SAR and needs guard help. Seems like a match to me. You might even see a SAR for Vlad Rad type swap.
SAR is a less athletic version of Jaimison, IMHO. He's a tweener that can score well, rebound fairly, but can be a defensive liability when matched up against "full sized" PFs. Moving Cato for him would downgrade our defense immediately and take away our back up center. I highly doubt he'd fill the banger role we seem to want next to Yao. It's too bad that the Heat have moved on to the second round, because Brian Grant, as far as I'm concerned, would be the perfect fit for us. Evan
I always liked his game...he brings toughness to the PF position. Another good thing about him is that he doesn't mind sharing the rock...we all know how important that is on this team. Over Cato and Mo, he is definitely an upgrade.
There isn't a long history of swaps in the northwest territories. While SAR to Sonics seems logical and reasonable, I think the deal would have to include Booth and maybe Barry (SnT) for Sonics to say 'yes'. Why would Blazers do that? SAR's contract coming off the books in one more season elevates reef's 'game'. SAR gets moved -- but in a multi-multi player swap, IMO.
Because that's never been the deal that's been discussed. SAR for Ray Allen has been the most common scenario talked about. With Allen, Barry, Flip, Ridnour, and Daniels, the Sonics have been loaded with guards while thin in the frontcourt. With Randolph, Ratliff, Davis, etc, the Blazers have been heavy on PFs while relying on DA and Stoudamire in their backcourt. While the Sonics would like shed Booth or James, this wouldn't be the deal where it happens. SAR is human cap relief in the form of his $14 final year contract. If anything, Seattle may be asked to take on Patterson to even things out. Evan
