Obviously all of these guys won't be available for the Rockets at 26. Also, there's the possibility that the Roxs could trade for a 2nd rounder, which means they could also take more than one guy from this list. Then again, the team could also trade their pick away. But assuming that any of these PFs could possibly be available at 26, and assuming that the Rockets stay at 26 (and at 26 only), which one would you prefer? I'd go with McRoberts first, followed by Splitter, Fazekas, Davis, and Williams.
Sean Williams, just because he is something the rockets don't remotely have in being an athletic shotblocking 4 that can run the floor in a uptempo game.
if splitter didnt have any buyout concerns, i think he'd be #1 on the board. but i guess his contract concerns are just like williams and his character concerns. williams splitter mcroberts davis fazekas
None of them would be a starting PF in the first season. So pick the best available player (eg. Affalo or Almond) and trade for a starting PF.
i disagree. i think splitter is probably the most ready to play because of his defensive abilities and could contribute as a garbage man in his first season or two. having an athletic 7 foot garbage man who can defend in the post is a very good asset.
Morey was saying that the PF position will most likely be addressed through a trade or a FA signing. So this might not even be an issue.
I saw some Euroleague matches and to tell the true... Splitter is so slow for the NBA. IMO he'll be a huge bust.
I am really excited about McRoberts. If he goes to a team that can use him, it may be really high reward. I see him landing in Orlando with his boy JJ.
I've researched this to death on draftexpress.net. I'm leaning towards Sean Williams, Big Baby, or Stephen Lasme (no offense to his game). Also, Morris Almond and Dequan Cook look good at this spot. We need scoring off the bench.
You bring up a legitimate concern. He can get offensive rebounds but needs to box out and use his toughness to get better. There is no ideal PF available but I would still take a chance with him. There are some players with ability who don't get better. He is an immature kid, picking him is a gamble but I think he can not only get better with time but also has the desire to play and seems to be responding with John Lucas. The Rockets gambled with Griffin but if Sean Williams falls to the 26th pick they won't be losing much and might gain quite a bit of success in the long run.
To be fair, Williams probably is too busy trying to block every shot to box out and get defensive boards. But there are other college players who have both rebounded and blocked a ton of shots (Okafor comes to mind). Also, it seems that a rebounder (like Chuck) helps more next to Yao than a shot blocker (like Swift). Anyhow, I just think rebounding is the #1 think you look for in a PF.
sean williams is the best around #26 he alreadycan play defense now we need to wait for him to develop better offense he can be good if he works hard.
