PF in the draft, who do you want in Red? Other than Kristin kreuk Ike Diogu (Ariz St.) Shelden William (Duke) Chris Taft (Pitt) Andrew Bogut (Utah) Ronny Turiaf (Gonzaga) Johan Petro (France) Vladimir Veremenko (Russia) Wayne Simien (Kansas) Channing Frye (Ariz) Paul Davis (Mich St.) Other
Bogut is the clearly best among this group. I don't think it's even close. However, he'll be either #1 or #2, and the only way for us to get him without losing Yao and T-mac is ... selling our souls... Anyway, i think the most realistic yet great pick for us is Hakim Warrick. He's alittle bit under-sized, but the dude is amazingly athletic. He looks like a Stromile Swift. Could be a great pickup for us along side of Yao.
Bogut is probably out of the question, so lets say "realistically" who can we draft, in the middle - late 1st round.
while this is a pf-poll i´ll suggest they pick up a point guard there are some quality pg´s out there (felton, gilchrist...)
stromile swift. j/k. i'm not sure where they'll go but shelden williams seems to love to rebound and can block shots and hakim warrick is a freak, though his thin frame could be a concern. turiaf has just never done anything for me every time i watch him, and simien seems to either be injured or just not seem like he could dominate. not that he'd be bad to draft. i know he's not a pf, but since he seems to put up great numbers or have some highlight on SC every time AZ plays, i'd like to get salim stoudamire from arizona. really athletic and can shoot 3's as well as anyone. one mock draft i saw didn't even have him getting drafted. if we got him in the 2nd round i'd love it.
Andrew Bogut is a monster, he can score in a variety of ways, is a ferocious rebounder and a rugged defender (though not much of a shot-blocker if I recall correctly) No doubt we should pick him up if the Rockets get the chance (which they most likely won't) If we do and he lives up to the high expectations, the question eventually would be "Is there enough basketballs for this team to co-exist?" Bogut is going to be a star in this league, he would inevitibly want to play out of T-Mac and Yao's shadows. Stuart
In terms of realistic draft choices, I'd say Simien and S. Williams. We need guys who can help us defensively at the 4.
Here's a vid of Bogut. If anyone is interested... http://mfile.akamai.com/9192/rm/cst...stv_videos/Features/0105/utah-bogut-011105.rm (RealOne Media)
At least Bogut and Williams are realistically out of our reach. I would have loved a more realistic poll. DeAleck Bogut is great but he is not in that "great" circle all by himself. I believe Shelden Williams is just as great. In fact Shelden has as good/better FG% and rebounding numbers. Shelden has a better block shot per game numbers as well. I voted for Bogut nonetheless since I assume this poll is a fantasy one but realistically Ike Diogu is it. His only problem maybe his size but the great or better ones like Iverson, Brand, etc never seem to be bothered by lack of size in their respectively positions. Diogu is a 6-8 well-cut 255 pounder (there is an argument that he is more like 6-7). This season his stats has been outstanding in FG%, FT%, blocked shots, ppg and RPG. He has a knack of going to the line like a Charles Barkley and knocks down over 81% of his FT. Below is some old/new scouting report of Ike diogu. Also check this out - Plenty to like about Ike
Bogut's... Andrew Bogut's unofficial website More stuff http://utahutes.collegesports.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/bogut_andrew00.html
Bogut is gonna play 3 in the NBA at best. He's not a 4, and can't hang with NBA PF's under the basket, imo.
Hakim Warrick's a lot more 3 than he is a 4. I played against him in High School when he was at Central. He's like a cross between Darius Miles and Kenyon Martin... I don't think he'll be available in the last first round anyway. We should be able to get a good prospect regardless of who we draft (assuming it's a 4)
Not sure, but Kristin Kreuk is a hottie! aries323 must have had KK on his mind when he created this thead.
Right now the Rockets would have the 21st pick in the 2005 draft (9th best record). NBAdraft.net mock projections for PFs or names mentioned: Andrew Bogut (Utah) - #2 Tiago Splitter (Brazil) - #4 Chris Taft (Pitt) - #5 Fran Vazquez (France) - #8 Vladimir Veremenko (Russia) - #13 Johan Petro (France) - #14 Hakim Warrick (Syracuse) - #16 Ronny Turiaf (Gonzaga) - #19 Wayne Simien (Kansas) - #26 Channing Frye (Ariz) - #27 2006 mock draft - Shelden William (Duke) - #13 Ike Diogu (Ariz St.) - #26 Paul Davis (Mich St.) - #42
http://www.celebrity-fansites.com/stars/kristin_kreuk/ Ummm...so this Bogut guy is the real deal huh?
I watched the Arizona-UCLA game yesterday just to scout Channing Frye and came away unimpressed. He just seems weak and (like Yao often does) tips rebounds when he clearly should be grabbing them. Not much in the way of offense either. Diogu could be a possibility, but I would want to know his wingspan before picking him. Brand is undersized (6'8) but has long arms (7'1 wingspan). In fact, this is a quality I would look for in any PF that we think about drafting.
I think if you ask this question a year from now the answer will be Chris Taft, he has the natural build for the NBA power forward position and has back to the basket skills as well as the ability to score in traffic his only problem is he does not always put his stamp on games or take over games with all his talents however he has all the skills to be a very good power forward
