Well which do you feed your animal(s)? I have a dog and a cat. The dog will only eat dry food. I have tried to incorporate wet food in his diet but he won't eat it. The cat eats both dry and wet food, mostly wet. The dog will eat the cat's wet food though for some reason and the cat will eat it's food and the dog's food, it doesn't matter. Anyway, what about you? What are the pros and cons of each as you see it?
I will give my cat dry food most of the time. Sometimes I will give him wet food, which he absolutely loves. The only problem is that he tends to throw up alot after eating wet food.
Wet food isn't good for dog's teeth. I use to mix it so they could eat both but they ended up picking out the wet food and leaving the dry.
I give each of my cats one can of wet food per day (half morn/half eve) and leave a bowl of dry food for grazing. They do eat it too.
My dog gets farty with wet food. So i only give him dry food. Plus his wrinkles and nose always get wet from dipping his face in the bowl.
wet and dry, but my cat has demanded wet food for about 18 years. If I could do it again, i'd never get him hooked on the stuff, it's bad for their teeth and rots their gums, but I can't wean him off the wet stuff. He also likes heroin.
dog gets dry cat gets wet because it had all sorts of urinary tract problems and wet version of prescription food means she does not pee randomly on things.
Oh, do you have a pug? I have a black pug. She had some issues with the food we were feeding her, Beneful, and she started hunger striking. After doing some research about what qualifies as "meat" in dog food, we started making our dogs' meals with the same stuff we buy for ourselves: ground beef, rice, and some veggies, usually carrots and green beans. It doesnt take a lot of time, it's easy to buy in bulk for the week, and all her digestive problems have been solved. I have a pomeranian too, and she has had improved health and both have visibly nicer coats too.
I use mostly dry food(two different kinds at a time) for my dog, with just a spoon full of wet mixed in. I put a layer of water in the bowl, and mix it all together. If the dog had her way she would eat only wet food. The brands I use are really good quality. I usually use Wellness and any brand from Innova, such as EVO.
The Dexter dog only gets natural raw food made by a company in New Zealand. He used to have a mix of kibble and wet, but he seems to prefer only the wet. And my wife has done a ton of reading about how kibble is basically junk food for dogs. So no more kibble.
We have a "senior" cat and a "young" cat. They both get mixed dry and wet food. They have dry the entire day, while we will serve wet food at least twice a week. They like it like that. They eat dry food out of one dispenser (the ones you can fill up and just let it dispense automagically) together.
I don't remember asking my cat for his feedback. I feed him Science Diet for kittens, until 1 year and then he get's Science Diet for adults. He seems to lose interest in wet food. He's worse than Morris.
