I know there are many threads out there about TMAC, but I'd like to see an official petition thread of letting Tmac play. The reasons being, 1. He wants to play, the MRI says he can play, why not letting him play? 2. We would like to see if he still can be the CLOSER for this team. 3. If the Rockets are ever going to trade him, nobody is going to want him unless they see him play, right? 4. The insurance is already paying 80% of his salary, what more could the Rockets lose by playing him?! (except for Battier and C-Bud to lose a bit of their playing time) 5. If Tmac does not fit in this team after playing several games, and then they can consider to trade him...
You people that are on this side of the argument must've never played organized basketball. This isn't how it works. You don't just come off of major surger, pronounce yourself ready, and all of the sudden return to the lineup. I don't care whether you're playing for your junior high or you're making $23 million in the NBA. You practice first...a few practices in fact. Then after you clear that hurdle with no problems, you can think about playing games.
To the Rockets Org. You do whatever you think is best regarding Tmac, if that means sitting him all year. Fine, you have my support. The good of the franchise is what is important. Anyone want to guess what the over/under is on Tmac threads? DD
If the Rockets play McGrady now and he ruins his career like Webber or is out for the rest of the season like Amare was after 3 games. Are you guys going to blame Adelman for playing him too soon?
1. I thought he has been practicing. 2. Practices were never felt like a regular game, speed of the game is very much different. 3. He could work his way back to a starter later, now he could be a back-up for them.
1. He never made it through a full practice til yesterday. Plus the Rockets hadn't had a single practice in two weeks. 2. The Rockets' coaching staff is very scrimmage-oriented. That's about as close to game conditions as you can get without being an actual game. Try about 3-4 practices and then we'll talk about playing in real games. 3. Everybody's story (funny he doesn't address this) is that he doesn't look like the player he used to be...this was as of recently. It's more black and white than that this go around...you're ready or you're not. We tried the gray area last year and look how that turned out.
In Morey I Trust! and RA too. If Morey and RA think that it is in the best interest of the Rockets to sit TMac then they can sit him forever as far as I'm concerned. The Rockets should only do what is in the best interest of the team and should not even consider what's best for TMac.
If you mean "work his way back to the rotation" via practice first, then sure. He's got to prove himself first...to his teammates, coaching staff and the organization as a whole. This aint a bruise or a sprained ankle we're talking about. It's major surgery...the kind that has ruined player's careers. Not in all cases obviously, but enough to be very cautious about how to handle his return. Not to mention all the bridges he burned last year by the way he handled the situation. There's a lot of issues to mend first. You don't just throw him back out there.
