Before you ask "who the hell is Peter Tomarken", I have five words for you... No whammies... No whammies... STOP!
I think Jim Rome is going to have fun with this one tomorrow. This had to be my favorite game show when I was little. I would always cheer for the wammies. RIP
this show was awesome, i remember watching it on USA while I was growing up. btw, its funny about the timing, just about a few months ago, my co-worker told me about the scandal that happened almost 22 years ago. http://gscentral.net/larsen.htm Check it out, its a good read. + RIP
They had a movie about this about a year ago. It was followed by a documentary in which they showed exactly how he was able to do it. They brought in average joes off the street and showed them and told them to see how many times in a row they could hit it. IIRC, most of them hit the big money over 30 times with some stopping because it was getting boring.
the site mentioned the documentary, but didn't know there was a movie. If I could only get my hands on that, I would love to watch it.
Pretty interesting stuff, actually. I think they said the guy was obsessed with winning big money after this and it ruined his life. For some reason, I also seem to remember it saying that he was robbed of all the money he won because he kept it at home in the form of cash. (I didn't read the site yet so I could just be rehashing what it says)
Haha. I just read it, as well. As I'm thinking more and more I'm thinking it may have just been the documentary. I'm remembering them having the documentary with part of it being a re-enactment which may be why I remembered 2 separate things. Either way, the documentary was pretty interesting stuff.
Press Your Luck is by far my favorite game show of all time!!! It's a sad day for fans of this show. I loved watching this with my great grandma when i was 3 and 4. $5,000 and a spin!!
yup i would say that was my favorite gameshow to. its all about the whammies. price is right would come in second.
The only thing I really remember about the show is the little scandal where a player remembered the pattern and won an extensive amount of money. R.I.P.
