Hi guys, there is a rumor from Puerto Rico that PJ Ramos have been actively talking with the rockets and he's willing to be the backup of Andersen. I apologize I don't have a credible source for that. Please lock this thread if you don't believe it. Here are some videos of him. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mfiW8a4aF6M http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=irH4KGfmyIU http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vs14thgC6VM
Interesting. What's your source? Do we know if Ramos can do anything other than uncontested dunks like in these vids? Can he play defense? If this is true and they are seeking a backup to Andersen, I'm guessing that means they won't use Chuck to play the 5. Does that mean that Morey is looking to move either him or more likely Landry? Interesting indeed.
Supposedly he's 7'3" which makes him surprisingly athletic. I like what I see in the vids. Especially the third; it shows he has some post moves. He's also only 24. Interesting...
I just heard it from a friend of mine, who's from Puerto Rico. He said he was reading some Puerto Rico sports news and found this info. I just brought this up. It's offseason, you know
Ah ok, thanks for the heads-up anyway. Should be interesting to see what happens. It seems the Rockets are trying to make it known that they are trying to make moves for an all star caliber player. The latest Friedman article on Rockets.com heavily hints at this. Maybe there's a verbal agreement in place and they're just waiting for Landry's trade option to become open.
This came up on Google News. http://sports.163.com/09/0813/11/5GJHE3ER00051CA1.html Google's translation It's dated 3 hours ago.
I wouldn't mind adding him at all. If he signs for the min. Looks like a athletic 7 footer. If anything he'll make Dorsey work harder.
If we're getting this desperate, we should go after Nathan Jawai from Dallas and have an All-Aussie 5 spot! He got no game time with Toronto but he's 6'11", 280lbs and very athletic.
Any front court help is truly a welcome sight. He is tall and that is what the team badly needs. He may not have a spot in the regular rotation but with his size, He could be used against the taller front lines of other teams like Portland and the Lakers.
We need another practice player for training camp. The guy hasn't played in the NBA for 4 years. http://www.nba.com/playerfile/peter_john_ramos/index.html
I'm from Puerto Rico and I see this guy play all the time. That being said, he isn't what we need. He doesn't play good defense and he is JUST STARTING to develop a jump shot. He doesn't rebound well for a guy his size and doesn't have the mental toughness to play on the Rockets. His only "upside" is that he is still fairly young and with proper training could be a decent backup. There's a reason he has tried to be in the NBA and hasn't panned out.
