I would love to go down there this afternoon and throw a steak at them or maybe some ribs. I'd probably be arrested though, not for disrupting them but for wasting steak and ribs. I don't really understand the shower argument though. Is it raising an animal that produces a pound of meat wastes the same amount of water as it takes to take one shower? If so that is flawed on so many levels. 1) the most basic is that Water is a reusable resource, I don't care how much water the cows use, It all comes back in the end. 2) If we don't slaughter the cows for food aren't they going to use more water by continuing to live? 3) It's not okay for the meat industry to waste water but is okay for PETA to waste it in this demonstration http://www.kfdm.com/news/peta_30016___article.html/shower_public.html Two women will shed their clothes Friday afternoon and shower in public in downtown Beaumont, in support of PETA's belief consumers should become vegetarians to help the environment. The tour is continuing on its road after a similar display at the Alamo on Wednesday. (Find that Video Here) People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals says the meat industry wastes water and creates a large amount of greenhouse gases, and the organization is inviting the public and media to an event it says will help expose the scope of the problem. PETA's news release states: NUDE PETA BEAUTIES SHOWER ON SIDEWALK TO EXPOSE MEAT'S DEVASTATING IMPACT ON THE PLANET Meat Industry Wastes Water, Creates Greenhouse Gases What: Naked behind a banner that reads, "1 lb. of Meat = 6 Months of Showers," two PETA beauties will shower together in a busy Beaumont location to let consumers know that the best thing that they can do for the environment is to go vegetarian. U.N. scientists have determined that raising animals for food generates more greenhouse-gas emissions than all the cars, SUVs, trucks, and planes in the world combined. Researchers at the University of Chicago determined that switching to a vegan diet is more effective in countering climate change than switching from a standard car to a Toyota Prius. "It's impossible to 'go green' without going vegetarian," says PETA beauty Colleen Higgins. "Just by changing their diets, concerned people can help protect the Earth, their own health, and countless animals." Where: The intersection of Main and Crockett streets, Beaumont When: Friday, February 6, 1 p.m. For more information, please visit PETA's Web site GoVeg.com.
I just told my Beaumont friend to go there today and throw meatballs covered with spaghetti sauce at them. I call them "cow periods."
Excellent, I really was considering going down there but unfortunately I am home with a sick kid. My luck I would take him and get caught on the news. If my wife found that out, I'd be dead.
lulz...Castor, your post immediately made me think of this... <object width="480" height="295"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/6eLw3xZ7GHs&hl=en&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/6eLw3xZ7GHs&hl=en&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="295"></embed></object>
Again, I'm all for people making dietary choices on their own, but using sex and whatever other desperate tool at their disposal to push their propaganda machine and tell society to conform to their views just makes me want to resist. I think I'll go have a cheeseburger.
I saw this on the news last night. The girl in S.A. was wearing stripper shoes. Those classy, naked vegetarians. P.S. I like steak.
Yep they did this in front of the Alamo yesterday. I bet ol' Davy Crockett was rolling over in his grave.
PETA sure uses sex a lot to get attention. I guess they are trying to win over the stereotypical "carnivore" male, motivated by animal urges. They might have some converts if they would just hammer home slaughterhouse practices which even carnivorous I, disapprove of. I just don't think anyone is going to say...hey look...bewbies...I wonder what that is all about, and research inhumane practices. They might reasearch PETA and find out they are crazier than ****house rats. (NOTE: I don't condone confining rats in poorly ventiliated ****houses, please don't pour paint on me) Anyway I am off to have a double cheeseburger...you know...for finalsbound
I love meat and eat it with nearly every meal. I don't feel the need to assault people who disagree with me. Maybe, I don't eat enough meat.
They're right outside of my building. We've been taking a break to watch every hour or so. Unfortunately, from the 9th floor, you can't tell how good looking they are.
This can be an interesting question. If a man is forced to choose between good sex (no meat/seafood) and good food (no sex) for the rest of his functioning life, what would he pick?
Does the no sex include manual transmission?? I didn't see them Wes but apparently according to the story on KFDM the woman said she had more on under the shower than just a pair of shoes.
