We have some new next-door neighbors who brought an un-neutered male cat with them. We have three cats ourselves. In the last few months, this cat is constantly prowling our property and fighting with our cats. The night before last he actually entered our house through a cat door that we have off the back deck. He ran around the house for awhile before I could shoo him toward an open door outside. Here's the rub: this fighting has cost us about $300 of unnecessary vet bills. Would it be wrong to buy a BB pistol to drive him away? I'm a cat lover so I don't want to inflict unnecessary pain, I just want the pest to stop and go and stay home. Other better ideas? The neighbor has talked about getting him fixed, but it's not happened yet. We are not friendly with them, but they are our neighbors. I wish they had the same concern
don't use a BB gun... EVER!! if you do and the neighbors find out... it's a police report for you and possibly a fine. That is considered Cruelty to Animals and the SPCA and HPD don't take kindly to that kind of behaviour.
rockHEAD: Thanks for the heads-up. I doubt I would have gone that far, but it was a tempting idea because it seemed like a certain solution. codell: We have thought about that in a bigger picture than a scheme of protection, but we are trying to wait until our girls are a bit older (2 and 4 now)... I need a solution NOW. ============================================== I think we may have a SuperSoaker in the garage somewhere; I'll have to try that. He is a quickly re-treating target... often into the dark night. We live in the country so there are no streetlights. Fire away.
I heard a story about a guy who had cats and a neighbors cat was bothering his. He drained a can of tuna and filled it up with antifreeze. Then he left it outside in his backyard and left his cats in the house for a few days. He never saw the neighbors cat ever again. Weird.
I enjoy being petted at anytime Seriously though, I would tell your neighbor that he needs to control his animal. Our dogs got out a few times, and after my neighbors talked to me about and told me there concerns, I took care of the problem.
Yeah, spraying the cat with water is the best idea. Whenever cats come around here, I always spray them with the hose.
go on texas justice and sue for the 300 dollars.. then we can find out if they take bbs threads as testimony in a case.. yes, we seem to have a statement from one cc.net member.. master baiter..
Lawyer: Please state your full name for the record. Me: Master Baiter Lawyer: Can you spell that please? Me: M-A-S-T-E-R B-A-I-T-E-R
There's an idea! Yeah, stay away from the BB-gun. (I know all about them from my childhood... don't ask!)
