When you're right, you can lord it over everyone. "I knew it the Rockets would lose!" When you're wrong, it's "oh, good thing I was wrong and good things happened!"

If this is you, you're a coward.

    You're my boy, Kim! :)

It's something that has always bothered me. Debbie downers take the easy way out. Be a man (or woman) and have some faith.

I'm a pessimist about the Rockets because I'm a realist and have seen enough NBA to know that a mediocre team doesn't win anything in this league. You have to be either very good or very bad to be successful.

I'm an optimist but I'm probably the most cynical person I know.

I'm an optimist deep down but I've been brainwashed by years of steve francis-era rockets basketball where I'd watch a game and get my hopes up really high only to have the **** dashed out of them, so at 13 or 14 I dabbled with the tactic of "reverse psychology," where I would say out loud "we're gonna lose" and mute it and ignore it. amazingly, it worked (a couple times), the rockets came back and won!!!!!!!!!!!! so the habit kind of stuck, and even though I can say with confidence that I don't actually believe in reverse psychology...I still mutter "we're gonna lose" when it's a tight game late in the 4th.

Unfortunately the condition gets worse when we're in the playoff picture.

That might what a "skeptic" is. Or just what "troubleshooting" is.

Or maybe its just "lowered expectations"
    :p

"I Told You So" is the LIFEBLOOD of internet forums. Especially sports. Unfortunately it will persist on like that too much

Though I agree with you. The team's coach and the players compete with expectation of doing GOOD. It doesnt hurt to just MATCH their outlook.

My least favorite type of fan. I'm no homer, but it's easy to say your team sucks because chances are you're right. Only one team wins a championship each year, a few teams are really good, and the rest are mediocre to bad. Where's the excitement in hating on your team?

Plus these people are the WORST company when the game is on. Since they've basically given up on the team, they don't know the names of half the players, and if your team loses they think they're Bill Parcells/Phil Jackson/Tony Larussa all of a sudden.
