Thinking about this teams nucleus whats missing? If we could add ONE player, who would be the perfect fit? This doesn't include Shaq thats too easy IMO McDysse would be a perfect addition. He play strong D. Plays well without the ball. Doesn't have to be the man. Can CATCH alley-oops. Is a nice guy. Has a good post up game. He isn't at the level of a Webber or Duncan but he can be as effective and doesn't have the ego or the need to be the man. They need the offense to be run through them he can but doesn't have to all game. He will go get his points just as much as score when plays are run for him. Most of the centers besides Shaq are just PFs plus Rudy plays that way alot also. He could play center and or pf giving us rebounding shot blocking scoring toughness some one who can catch on the run and finish and versitlity. I don't think McDyess is a player that the Rockets could get, simply because I don't think the Nuggets would want any of the tradeable players on the Rockets. Also, I don't think McDyess would ever play center. Phoenix even played Cliff Robinson at the center when McDyess was there.
I think picking a star like mcdyess is kinda cheap as well. How about picking a role player or a bench player that could really help out. That would be a much harder task. Ummmm we could really be helped out with dell curry or some really good shooter who could open things up for us on the inside and free up mobley and franics
Whatever happened to all the great "shooters"? There used to be Dale Ellis, a young Curry, a young Reggie Miller, etc. There just dont seem to be too many pure shooters in the game anymore. I think mgmt hoped RIce would fill that role, but obviously wasnt. I wonder if he has been able to solely practice shooting while injured? I think Danny Fortson would be a good addition. OF course, McDyess would be great but why would DEnver trade him for anyone on our team other than Francis or Mobley?
I'm thinking more like Theo ratliff. Griffin and Ratliff at the 4/5 would drop the opponets fg% for sure.
Well we had to trade Pip for little. We got Barkley without giving up a star, same for Drexler. Oh yah he is hurt which drops his value after teams have been burned on picking up hurt players like Hill, Penny, and Ratliff. He is good but not great. They have not won any more games with him then with out which drops his importance. And that team is going through big changes. Denver is not one player away and they need depth. They could wait two seasons and sign him as free agent also or trade for him in his final year. We have role players and I feel we need one other good player to make us continders like Dallas but better. There are other players but its a question of who would you go after if you could go after any one to complete the puzzle.
We're not trying to "complete the puzzle." We're 9-21. Also, I am now making a plea to all posters to please SPEAK ENGLISH. Misspelled words, run-on sentences, etc. make reading a thread a real chore.
A healthy Rockets team is much better than 9-21, so looking for the final piece of the puzzle is not as dumb as it seems.
A healthy Ratliff, I agree. Assuming Mo comes back strong, Eddie gets his wish, I'd feel very comfortable with a Ratliff, Mo and Eddie frontcourt. Then again, from a defensive standpoint, what's Theo got that Eddie doesn't? Assuming we could get Eddie to man the 5, and do a pretty darn good job at it, someone who might not be a perfect fit, but really could help us would be Glen if he were anything close to what he used to be. Think about it: Eddie, Mo, Glen, Cuttino and Steve. If we could just get that team defense going again like in the beginning of the year and get Glen to hit a high percentage of open shots (say, 48% FG and 43% 3pt) we'd be hard to stop. Remember dreams of Super-Offense after the Glen Rice trade? I think a lineup of those guys clicking on all cylinders would be very, very hard to beat.
Why are people still talking about Mo Taylor like Mo Malone? I can see Griffin, Ratliff, and whoever at the 3 spot. Mo is going to be relegated to the bench. Neither he or griffin can guard the 3, we have a guy we're to pay 9mil + to play that position, so whats the problem. If i can somehow get Ratliff to play with Griffin, taylor is the last person i'll be worried about. I don't think its close that griffin or Taylor could play the 3, all we would have then is 2 jump shooting forwards. How can you take advantage of the size mismatch if neither will post up. Lets be real people.
NugzFan- You know I always trust your opinion as a relatively unbiased outside source, but when talking baout the Nuggets your bias towards their players is similar to our bias towards Rocket players. McDyess is a great, underappreciated PF in this legue. But dont discount Mobley's skills. Even numberwise it is much closer than you make it out. Career Numbers- McDyess: 17.7 ppg, 8.8 rpg, 1.6 apg, 0.93spg Mobley: 16.2 ppg, 3.90 rpg, 2.5 apg, 1.06 spg The discrepancy is not that large at all. I'd say McDyess is a slightly better player. But, he's been injured all year, has yet to contribute to anything close to a winning season in Denver (is he a winner?) and I think is older (although its a wash). So, if the Nuggets were in the market for a shooting guard, Mobley and filler would probably get it done for McDyess. I just dont think the Rockets would do that trade though.
Nugzfan- You are as biased as any Rocket fan on this site. You seem to think your power forward is so good but what the heck has he done. Has any of his teams made the playoffs? Don't tell me about his supporting cast. All of the prime time players make their respective teams better. McDyess does not win games like a Shaq, a Duncan, a Brand, ... You might think he is a star but he is not. He is very good player but he is not going to bring a ring without having someone better than he is on the team.
The problem with Theo is he is too undersized when you play against the bigger, thicker centers, like the shaqa, and david robinsons of the world, that is why Philly got rid of him, but i think if he was shifted to the pf position, he could be a better player
The reason Philly got rid of Theo had more to do with going for the big game at the present instead of building for the future. Also the centers you mention are only two and there aren't very many legit centers.
i know YOU guys wont, but its mobley vs dice! not francis! friggin cuttino mobley! comeon. all star vs non all star. size vs shooter. mobley and filler would NEVER get it done. period. whatever exactly mcdyess is or isnt, mobely is less. i mean, did you watch the game today? ouch! bibboymumu: ya wanna talk bias? me vs this board? hehe. its not even close. honestly, for your own good, dont even bother.
In situations of EQUAL talent always take the taller player. Mobley is NOT good enough to get McDyess. DD
