    What were you guys thinking?

Seriously? A bunch of well respected members on this site wanted him traded and were giving us the fans bullcrap on how he's been a cancer in the locker room. I'm not going to name any members but it really shows how dumb some of us can be.

There were even a bunch of bull on how Tracy will play like the old Tmac if we traded Artest away

I know that we stand a chance of losing Artest in the summer for nothing, but we also have the best chance of resigning him.

This team would be out of playoff contention if we traded him, and I'm proud to say that I was one of the members who to keep Artest and knew what Artest could bring to the table and make this team a very dangerous playoff team.

Everyone wants a player traded when he's doing horrible for a ladder part of the season. Well, obviously now he's taken Tracy McGrady's role and he's doing it well, well, that's just how it goes. It goes up and down, and people just didn't have trust in Ron Artest early on. You can't bash them now just because he's playing well..

Dude his shot selection sucks and he is not that great of a shooter and he has not gone to the hole as much as would like.....therefore WHY should we over pay him? Why not get something for him?

I'm sorry this was not worth a whole thread.

    LOL! Tracy...Playing...LOL! Good one!

I didn't want to trade Artest unless it was for Amare or Bosh personally. I wanted to trade Tmac for Baron.

But I think the deal was Rafer/Artest for Baron. I think Tracy's injury ended the deal for the Rockets not the Clippers. We probably thought that Baron/Tmac/Yao would be better than what we had.

I'm a big enough man to admit that I believed trading Artest would be beneficial to the team. As much as I appreciated Ron's heart and hustle prior to the trade deadline, I figured things wouldn't pan out with him and we needed a change. Needless to say, I was wrong, and he hasn't disappointed me since the deadline. I'm glad we kept him.

What was the point of this thread?

    I agree on some parts...

His shot selection does sucks, but he is a pretty good shooter.

But... over pay him? You think he wants 22 million dollars like Tracy? Heck no. And our 22 million dollar player doesn't go to the hole just like Artest... So, I think we have another over payed player.

From a New Jersey newspaper, Rockets offered T-Mac for Carter. Than New Jersey counter offered with Artest, Landry, and Battier.

I'm talking about the deal with Baron Davis.

Reportedly the Rockets offered Rafer/Artest for Baron Davis but the deal ended when Tmac announced his injury. So why would it end when he has nothing to do with the trade? It's probably because the Rox thought he'd be back and that Baron/Tmac/Yao would be a deadly trio moreso than Artest/Tmac/Yao...So Tmac announcing his injury killed it.

Tmac for Carter wasn't happening though because of the injury and no way would the Rockets give up that much for Carter.

Think about if we did that...Artest/Landry/Battier...man we would be in horrible shape.

I like what we did getting Lowry and moving out Rafer and i'm really happy that Artest stayed.

I think there is a good chance he resigns also.

Just wanted to hear why people wanted to trade him, especially with Tracy not being able to play for most of the year......nothing big, just can't understand why we would trade a borderline all-star and expect Yao Ming to carry the team by himself.

Careful, bratna8 -- you might pull a muscle patting yourself on the back so forcefully.

sometimes his shot selection can be iffy but recently hes been hitting them at a good enough %. I would rather take Ron with his superior D, heart and hustle over T-Mac who when fit would still take just as many bad shots but have a couple more weapons.

I wanted him traded because he and Tmac did not fit and I didn't want to lose Artest this offseason for nothing.

But once Tmac went out it made more sense to keep him, and roll the dice.

So does this mean you people want to pay out the butt for Artest this summer? I just don't see it being worth it. Why is that a wrong assessment?

I think with the economy as it is there will not be a lot of teams looking to spend money on 2nd tier star players.

We can probably get Ron for just above MLE money, or about what he is making now....

No one will pay him a lot.

Economy down, half the teams of the NBA are borrowing money.

Add in with the fact that most teams are going to join the 2010 Sweepstakes of LeBron, Wade, Bosh, and whoever.

Yeah, we can offer Artest about what he is making now, because no team will really offer more.
