Trying to think of people who have truly inspired me in my life (for Facebook) ... I don't want to list historical people who might have had an impact on the country but none in the way I think and view life. I hate when people say someone like Abraham Lincoln or Ghandi yet had no profound meaning on their life. I was thinking Michael Jackson, aside from his legal troubles, his music have made a huge difference with my life growing up. But I can't think of anyone else...

Who are the people who inspire you, fellow Clutchfans? Like someone who truly changed the way you view things and without that person's accomplishments or beliefs your life would be different.

Through their autobiographies, I'd go with Tobias Wolff, Mary Kay Karr, Henry Louis Gates and John McWhorter. The first two cuz they got through semi-dysfunctional childhoods, the latter two because of the whole middle-class black thing. Probably throw Clarence Thomas in there too: even though his wife is bat**** and I don't agree with him politically, he is a closet perv and I got called oreo every day of junior high, so there's two things we kind of have in common. And of course, Lorenzo White for his dignity and professionalism in the face of Gary Brown's undeserved promotion.

LOL. Gary Brown was a beast back in the day. He was really nice too. I remember I used to wait around after Oilers games to get players autographs around the Astrodome like in 1992-1993. Everyone had a nice to decent car (for an athlete), but Gary Brown was driving this old 1988 brown colour Honda Civic or something. He would always be smiling and signed like 5 different autographs for me every week on random things I used to bring to the stadium. Last I heard, Lorenzo White was involved in some sort of boxing or MMA. Good times.

If all of you aren't inspired by me, you're a bunch of idiots.

    God inspires me, a lot.

I just think of all the times I went shopping and God came along with me, and we petted lizards in the pet shoppes, and we ate various ice creams and sipped fine wines and dined in cafes that resembled rain forests.

I remember one time God got 20% off at Urban Outfitters just because he was wearing a Toadies shirt, that was incredible.

We had a lot of fun times that summer, but eventually God got a new job in Kentucky herding up feral cats and using their excess whisker clippings to fashion tiny strings for miniature Gibson acoustic ukuleles.

Still, I learned a lot that summer from God, we never did see each other again after that, but he stayed closely to my soul, and left an imprint upon my mortality.

Brosephus, I'm just happy you're good with sloppy seconds because otherwise I may not have had sufficient distraction to make my escape!
