Please guys, i am quite dissapointed with the lack of support this team is having here.
We are, as of now, 6th seed in the West. Having played 8 out of 11 games against team with .500 or better record (LAL Twice, Portland Twice, OKC, Dallas, Sacramento and now the Suns). Only two teams were under .500 and we won both (Memphis and GS).
Seven, of our games were against teams that were better than .500 last year (LAL, POR, Utah, Dallas, PHX).
We had 5 looses (LAL, POR, DAL, SAC and PHX) which in a common year they are expected. Plus we lost our first game against LAL and POR so this means this team as it is can recover from looses against the same opponent.

Please, show a little more respect. Watch teams like SA are 4-4 with a much easier schedule than us, we had better competition and less resting time and we are still b****ing after every loss.

    Go Rockets.

i have not been disappointed this season.

a great season? hardly. a bad year? probably not.

it all depends on your expectation.

it's interesting to me, though, that after a hard fought game against the suns, some spent more time and threads/posts talking about mcgrady than about the game itself.

11 games into the season is the key. It is way to early to judge if we are having a good or bad season. We have started off really well considering the amount of roster changes to last season.

considering we've had one of the hardest schedules in the league and still have a 6-5 record is amazing. just wait till the schedule softens up we'll probably pull another 20 game win streak.

Sure but look at the oposition, the Lakers are the only team with a good record against good teams, and we beat them once (3 wins against below .500 teams)
Out of Phoenix 10 wins 7 have come against BELOW .500 teams. Dallas has won 3 and lost to New Orleans and Washington, Portland has 5 wins against below .500 teams, and Denver has 3.
We had a very tough competition, and is hard for a team with 3 new players a starter and 2 rookies having 10 or more mins per game.

Player for player we might be the least talented team in the league. Being 6-5 is a great accomplishment.

The good thing is the Rockets beat the teams they are supposed to. They compete every night. That used to be an issue prior to this season.

Why do people always say "oh we are so so so talentless"

You think Aaron Brooks isn't talented? Name me five backup PGs better than Kyle Lowry. name me ONE backup PF better than Landry. Name me 15 pfs better than Scola. Name me five post defender better than Chuck Hayes. Statements like this are asinine.

its not so much that there isnt talent...every NBA team has talent but the way this team was constructed was that the talent that the Rockets posses were to compliment the two main stars in McGrady and Yao now that neither are in picture this team while still talented is just a bunch of talented role players and not pieces to fit along with stars. You are not going to win at all in the NBA that way. Even that pistons team that won a title and made it to back to back finals had no real superstar but had a team filled with all-stars (billups, hamilton, wallace x2) every solid team in the league has an all-star player on their team. Yeah I do believe at least right now everyone on this team is a good role player realistically though there is no one on this team that screams out 'he is an all-star!'

thats where the whole "lack of talent" comes from because the NBA has always been a league where teams build around a superstar or all-star and this rockets team has none so conventional wisdom would put them to be a terrible team.

the team can be scary good next season if Yao is back at 100% and Morey has some ability in the FA market or if he was able to move McGrady for another piece to fit the puzzle but for now its fun watching them play out there and compete really hard. There are going to be plenty of nights like this where the Rockets just dont have the talent to hang for the full 48 minutes. Its a long season unless something "miraculous" happens either with McGrady or his contract i still do not believe this team can make the playoffs (they will leave it all on the court trying though) as it is right now.

People should not be focusing on the "great" record the Rockets have right now compared to what most people perceived it to be, sooner or later that record will dip below .500 maybe even well below .500. What people should be focusing on though is the way the Rockets play which is something that I personally havent seen played at a NBA level in a long time. The hustle, heart ...whatever you like to call it this team displays every game night is just a joy to watch. I dont care what their record is or will be I am just proud of how they are competing out there.

The Rockets record, even without Tracy Mcgrady, will not dip well below .500. Again you are seriously underestimating how good the team we have is. The team does not have no clear cut All-stars, but it has a collection of very talented players (some of them are better than just "role players").

Our PG position is one of the most talented in the league. Aaron Brooks is on the cusp of becoming a star point gaurd. Even though he is hated on this board for some odd reason, he has tremendous talent as a scorer and is getting better at playmaking. Kyle Lowry is arguably a top 2-3 backup PG in the leauge, and capable of starting on some teams in the league.

Our wing position is immensely talented as well. Trevor Ariza, while not the "scorer" some people thought he would be (and foolishly so) is still a tremendous player (especially on defense). Battier, while horrid on offense this year, plays great D and provided leadership. Chase Budinger is also emerging as a dynamite bench scorer.

Our PF position, much like our PG position, is one of the mos talented in the league. The tandem of Luis Scola and Carl Landry produce like a superstar player, throwing up 30 and 15 each night. We get more production from that position than 90% of the league does.

Our gaping hole is center, even though Chuck Hayes and David Andersen are MORE than serviceable.

Without the superstars we have we still are a 7-8 seed in the playoffs, and our start this season should show that. They won't win a championship, but they still are a very good and talented team.

Thats not a good way of evaluating.

Because while Chuck may be one of the best post defenders, it doesnt matter since he isnt a great scorer. So he might stop someone more often then another player could but it wont make up for lack of scoring. (if he can do what he did when he went nuts scoring everyday it would be so different.)

there are quite a few 4's who are OVERALL better then Scola but scola can have some better values which might give him an edge.

At this pace, it should be easily a 50 win season. We have a .500 record vs top West playoff contenders which is pretty amazing at this point. We'll get better as our young guys will obviously improve.

I feel great about this season...we aren't having a great season but overall well above expectations. Development is going incredibly smoothly and players are stepping up nicely like Ariza, Brooks and Landry.

Saying all that we are one stud closer away and big man that can defend and rebound from being freaking scary...we could actually get both of those types of players by the trade deadline and if so then we should be very dangerous group come playoff time.

Agree: I am not disappointed at all. This team continues the great spirit it has had throughout the T-Mac years (maybe because it is always stepping up without him). Now the team is also young and more athletic than it has been since I can remember. Adelman probably deserves Coach of the Year to this point in the season. Hayes, Brooks, Landry, Lowry, Scola just don't stop amazing. Battier doesn't quite "amaze," but I always admire his game. Buddinger is a great new addition. Morey's metrics seems to find guys who just refuse to lose games. The Rockets always seem to be playing over their heads, but they just keep doing it night after night!

The way we beat the Lakers at their place... I'm proud of these Rockets. No whiners or divas on the active roster; just guys that are playing for the team.

I am not disappointed. I expected us to be a borderline .500 team; likely a sub .500 team.
